Set ACLs on Samba share from Windows
Okay, let''s try this again. I have a Samba server, joined to my Windows Active Directory domain, and I''m having a problem setting ACLs on a share from Windows. On Windows, I get the error message "Unable to save permission changes on <folder>. The parameter is incorrect." and when I look in my Samba log, I see the message "ACL is invalid for set (Invalid

Can not clear Read-only attribute
Using ''security=share'' or ''security=user'', via Windows right-click any Samba exported file and set the Read-only attribute. This works, but now can not clear the Read-only attribute, Windows reports simply "Access is denied". This happens with 3.3.0 and 3.3.1, but NOT 3.2.3. Setting ''force user = root'' does not help.

Can't see or change ACLs on Windows
I have samba server joined to a domain that I''m trying to use ads security and acls on. I can set acls on the Unix file system, and access from a windows client seems to honor them. I can''t view the acls under the security tab, all I see are the standard Unix permissions instead. If I try to add an entry to the acl, I get an access denied error, even if the user is on the list

Setting ACLs via Windows client
Hello, A little question about ACLs; my test server is set up with XFS and has support for ACLs. I have built the latest samba cvs source with acl support and as far as I can see from the configure results, acls were detected and were compiled. Note: I am using winbind to authenticate the users. Can I set the acls permissions from a windows 2000 client? I am trying to do this for a while

Can't logon to Samba server
I''m re-posting this thread / request for help. This is the first time I''ve ever used a "list", and the first time I''ve ever sent a request for help to a list. In my first message, I had unknowingly replied to another thread, when I wiped out the old subject and body. I was simply trying to send my new thread to the samba list. If I offended anyone, I

strict allocate = no does not work
Hi! I''ve got Debian 4.0 on an NSLU2 with Samba. The system is on an USB-Stick, the Samba share is on an USB-Disk. Copying files to the samba share make some problems here. I get a large delay before the transfer starts and I get timeouts with files larger than 150MB. I found out, that samba is writing a dump file on the disc before the transfer starts, which causes the

Slow Directory Access after upgrade to 3.5.6
Upgraded to Samba 3.5.6 from 3.5.2. Samba is running as a standalone server on a box that was upgraded from Slackware 13.1 to Slackware 13.37. All Win XP Pro and Win 7 Pro clients can connect to the workgroup and browse shares and folders exactly as before; however, many complain of intermittent pauses, slowdowns and "Not Responding" messages when traversing directories. The samba server
