I was trying to learn cross building an R pcakage for windows on my linux machine. I picked a relatively small library gee to test. I downloaded the cross-tools and put them in my path, jyan at ludwig:/a3/jyan/src/R-1.2.1/src/gnuwin32$ echo $PATH /home/jyan/cross-tools/bin:/home/jyan/cross-tools/i386-mingw32msvc/bin: /usr/lib:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games Following the

Cannot Get Samba to Work Without Encrypted Password with Legacy Client
Hi there, I have looked for a solution to my problem on the Internet (and in particular this mailing list), but couldn't find one, probably due to searching for the wrong thing :-) I have an RPI running Samba version 4.9.5-Debian. "pdbedit -L" shows that the user "smbuser" exists. I used "smbpassword" to set the password of "smbuser". I also have

Problem adding new users after upgrade to 3.4.0
After upgrading to 3.4.0, I can no longer add new users. Any users that were added beforehand work fine. Any users that I attempt to create cannot login (error: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE). I was able to get one new user account to work (see below), but I cannot add any new users. The server is Ubuntu 9.10 running Samba 3.4.0. I am using: security = user pam password change = yes Updating

How to debug not working Roaming profiles on Samba 4 AD setup?

This does not sound like a surprise to me. ;-) > with AD, you would add […] to each users object in AD. You can do this with ADUC or by creating an ldif file on the DC and then use ldbmodify to add it. Oh, yes, you're right, I had to do the same for the logon.cmd, I already

SXCE 121 Kernel Panic while installing NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM DomU
Hi all! I am running SXCE 121 on a dual quad-core X2200M2 (64 bit of course). During an installation of a NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM domU, the entire machine crashed with a kernel panic. Here''s what I managed to salvage from the LOM console of the machine: Sep 2 18:55:19 glaurung genunix: /xpvd/xdb@41,51712 (xdb5) offline Sep 2 18:55:19 glaurung genunix: /xpvd/xdb@41,51728 (xdb6) offline

Cannot Get Samba to Work Without Encrypted Password with Legacy Client
Hi there, Sorry to come back to that, I tried to follow the code at https://github.com/samba-team/samba/blob/master/source3/auth/auth.c#L214 (and below) but I still can't understand why one Samba client can connect, but the other can't. I can't understand why, with one client, the code would go into "check_samsec.c:183" (and return "sam_account_ok") while, with

Physical disks + Software Raid + lvm in domU
Hi, I''m trying to setup my box as described below: - The Dom0 exports two disks as physical devices to the DomU - DomU use the two devices to assemble a software raid device (/dev/md0) - On the /dev/md0 I create a lvm volume group and lvm volumes on it. Everything seems to work fine if the lvm volumes on the DomU are lightly used. Under heavy load the DomU freeze up immediately. The

The specified network name is no longer available
I feel stupid even asking, and I have a feeling the solution is something that has been staring me right in the face for hours. I can't seem to access network shared on my samba PDC. I've done this before, and I am using a similar smb.conf file and I am just at the point where I can't get anything else to happen with this thing. My original problem was that I could not get WINXP

During my tests I found the opposite. Only Unix file mode bits are respected, and file acls are ignored. If my initial assumption is correct and Samba do respect Unix file acls, then I am doing something

How to connect R and WinBUGS/OpenBUGS/LinBUGS in Linux in Feb. 2009
Hi all, I've managed to get JAGS working on my Ubuntu Hardy Linux with a 32-bit computer and AMD processors using R 2.8.1. JAGS is great. I've read that JAGS is the fastest, but that hasn't been my experience. At any rate, I have more experience with WinBUGS under Windows and would like a version of that working as well. It seems like I've read a lot on the subject and tried a

Files missing (not hidden)
Hi there, I have a samba install on centos 5 with the latest version of samba (samba-3.0.33-3.28). There were two files that just disappeared. The users description is as below: I had worked on them ? both were excel files that linked to each other. I saved it as a different name than the original I worked from (which I found to be very ?buggy?) ? the originals are still in their respective
