I'm working with Samba 3 on my Gentoo box. So far setting up andconfiguring Samba w/ldap and krb5 support is pretty straight forwared. My Gentoo box is now a member server of the domain, shows up in Active Directory. I can get a kerbereos ticket from our W2K PDC and connect to windows shares with as little effort as: smbclient //server/share -k Now I'm ready to start moving into

Compilation problems with R4.4.0
I'm having a strange problem compiling R4.4.0 on an AlmaLinux9 box. I've compiled previous versions OK on the same hardware/software (last was R4.3.2) but 4.4.0 is repeatedly failing. Configuration works OK. ./configure --prefix=/bi/apps/R/4.4.0 --enable-R-shlib R is now configured for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu Source directory: . Installation directory: /bi/apps/R/4.4.0

Windows Seven
Dear all, I am sure this question was asked many times, but I read that Windows Seven should work with Samba 3.2 We have SLES 11 (SuSE / Novell) and the version provided is smbd version 3.2.7-11.6-2057-SUSE-CODE11 Is it possible to join domain with Windows Seven to this version or is it incompatible ? I also read this, but it's not clear if 3.2.7 would also work or not ? *

Symlink Issue
I've recently upgraded a server and am having an issue with symlinks that used to work but are now broken. The links are on one of the filesystems shared by Samba, but point to directories on an NFS-mounted volume. The permissions and export on the NFS volume are such that both root and normal users on this Samba server can access the contents correctly. However, when I try to follow the

DFS redirection to sub-folders beyond share
Hi, I already posted this to smb-clients, but I believe that is a very low volume list. We have a very complicated dfs root. Now I'm not positive that this is how we should have done things, but it works very well with Windows clients, so it hasn't been thought about here. This does not work with smbclient or smbmount. I'm using freshly built smbclient from Samba 3.0.21a.

Wierd Roaming Profile Error
I have a Redhat 7.3 server running Samba-3.0.0 installed from the binary RPM's. It's acting as a PDC with Roaming profiles. I'm not certain if what I'm seeing is actually an error or not, but perhaps someone can shed a little light on what exactly it is that I'm seeing here. I have a WinXP Pro machine that I will log into with my domain username and password. My roaming

Multiply each column of array by vector component
Hi, I've got an array, say with i,jth entry = A_ij, and a vector, say with jth entry= v_j. I would like to multiply each column of the array by the corresponding vector component, i,e. find the array with i,jth entry A_ij * v_j This seems so basic but I can't figure out how to do it without a loop. Any suggestions? Michal.

Security = share changed in Samba 3+ ?
Hi, I have several servers in separate networks currently running samba 2.2.5. Each server can have aliases and I'm using the %L macro in share path, so that each appear as a separate 'virtual' server - depending on how the client calls it. There is at least one SMB users defined in 'smbpasswd' file. Here is the current config: > [global] > workgroup = MYGROUP
