What do you mean 'deleted actual samba service', do you mean that Samba
isn't running ?

NT1 SMB1 Updates simplified configuration
I appreciate everyone's patience.? I have been posting a few times about
this but this time I simplified the server to a standalone file server.
Ubuntu 22.04.2,? Version 4.15.13-Ubuntu, ext4 file system
My software requires SMB1.? It reads lock files (*.LCK, *.net) to
determine the lock status of records and tables in a database. Samba
freezes and my software times out when querying? the

adding printer driver to a printer
Hi,
I'm using debian woody with samba (2.2.3a-12.3). After installing
2.2.8a everything that worked, still works. What didn't work, still
doesn't work.
Sharing files works properly.
I'd like to share a printer via the samba server. When I go to the
printers&faxes share in explorer, no printers are shown.
Hereunder is my smb.conf, /etc/lprng/printcap, and the logfile

Scenario with CIFS
Hi all!
I'm trying to get samba working with CIFS, mounting a share on a client and
keeping the original file/dir permissions. The problem is that after I
(successfully) mount that share by CIFS, I can't write anything in it,
because I get a 'Permission denied' error. smbd version is 6.3.6.
My testparm is:

Mac clients trouble with NFD accented characters on Samba share
File names on a Samba share with accented characters using the NFD form

While tying to find a solution, I came across this old thread :

Yes, I've deleted the main samba package and the service is not running now.
Tried what? Logs must be created automatically, without my effort. All this questioning sucks - it just wastes my time. It must look like this - I hand you the log of the client for that day and then you figure out by yourself what was going on. But the logs I have left from that day don't contain that message. I

Printproblem WinXP / Samba / Cups
I'm using Samba 2.2.3 (Debian-testing) and CUPS 1.1.15 with a HP-Deskjet950c
Printing from all Linux-Clients works fine.
I also can print any document from the Windows-Boxes ( XP & 2k ).
The Problem is : If I want to make more copys than one I still get one paper printed out!
This problem only appears when printing from Windows to the Samba-Share.
I also tested lpr/lpd printer spooling
