Joining Windows 2008 Domain as DC fails 4.10 (and 4.11rc3)
Hi, I am trying to add a samba DC to an existing Domain that has 2 Win2016 Domain Controllers but is still running at Domain Functional and Forest levels 2008R2. When I run the join command it goes most of the way through before eventually erring out, and backing out everything it had done. The command I used is samba-tool domain join MYDOMAIN DC -U"administrator at mydomain.ext" -d

variables inside a template for my hp ilo device
I am writing a hp ilo module to automatically assign a static ip that is derived from the IP of the system which is fed in via facter. I basically just need to change the network the ilo is connected to. The ruby code works great inside the irb console. However, puppet doesn''t seem to be able to use the variable I have derived from the ipaddress. This is my first template so I am not

Joining Samba to Upgraded 2003 domain failing
H Rowland Thank you for your insight. I have checked over the article and have found a remnant from the old domain. I think :) Let's assume the domain is travis.com and the samdom is net.travis.com. Under this I have a subdomain called _msdcs so I would think this would be called _msdcs.net.travis.com. In the RSAT DNS tool I right click and try to delete. I get "The DNS domain cannot be

Replication fails with (WERR_GEN_FAILURE)
Hello, I set up a domain with two DCs (dns-backend is BIND9_DLZ) on a Debian 10 system. I used either the Debian-packages or the Packages from Louis (4.12.8). I created an Ansible-role to setup everything, starting from installing the packages over doing the provision/join up to change the settings for bind9. The first DC runs fine. After the reboot services are all present, allthe SRV Record for

winbindd hangs up while retreiving users
Hello. I'm installing new FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE, based on intel machine. Firewall type is OPEN. I have Windows Server 2000 with Active Directory on it, working in Native mode. I've installed samba-3.0.23c_2,1 from /usr/ports/net/samba3 prefix=/usr/local without krb-1.5.1 being installed. Added: nmbd_enable="NO" smbd_enable="NO" winbindd_enable="YES" to

Winbind crash on startup with Win 2K3 sp1 domain controller.
Having migrated from NT 4 I am trying to re-install a number of machines to our New Win 2K3 SP1 Domain. Most machines are Suse 9.1, running heimdal 0.6.1rc3, samba 3.0.14a (rpm from samba site). I can get kinit to work, get net ads join to work (eventually) net ads testjoin looks ok, and net ads user shows the active directory users. However winbind crashes at start up. I have removed and

[Fwd: Joining AD - wrong DNS name, wrong keytab]
Hello, I noticed within last Centos7 samba (4.10) issues with joining computers to AD. Which was no problem in previous versions (and is working with samba present in Ubuntu 16.04 - 4.3) I'm joining my clients to Active directory for example domain.org, with DNS subdomain base.domain.org The issue is that the client is joined and keytab generated for FQDN: client.domain.org instead of
