net vampire and WIn2003 AD
Hello Samba People, it is my first letter to Samba ML, so first of all - thanks Samba team for a great SW. Now the question: I want to migrate from Win2003 AD to Samba 3.3.2. I want to use net vampire feature to import all account information (is there any other way to do it?). Net vampire works partly - in the direct meaning of this word - it is importing only 131 objects. How come? Full

how to clear winbind cache
Hello all, I'd like to know how to clear winbind cache. The problem is that we have decided to change uid and gid mapping range, but changing smb.conf accordingly didn't help. We use ldap as backend. After deleting all idmap entries in ldap nothing changed. If we disable winbindd caching with -n switch we receive desired effect - users get mapped to new uids and gids. Restarting winbindd

Having problems with Samba and openLDAP Groups
I'm getting a little closer and understanding how the logs, etc work. I can log onto a Samba share, can read and write to my home directory, but I'm concerned about trying to get the file share Staff to work - want it to be read and write to the Group named Staff. I have set up the group and added myself to the group If I do a smbldap-groupshow Staff - I get sudo smbldap-groupshow

understanding users mapping
Hello all, Im Fran, and im from Spain. Im currently using an english book to setup my samba server, and im having problems understanding it. I explain my problem. I dont want to use root to join clients to the domain; i prefer creating a plain user. Domain not reachable.
I am setting up a domain with MDS and all works well in some offices, but in others I get domain not reachable errors when trying to logon. Could this be a bad switch?

Samba Configuration
Maybe I'm missing this - but I'm having problems setting up some file shares that are limited to certain groups. I've done countless searches on setups and on the tree connnect failed error message, and just haven't found anything that solves my problem. I am able to create shares that are basically open to the public, but I know the security is all messed up. I have openLDAP

netlogon sccript
Hello I would use a login script in a XP pro client SP3 and my samba server is samba-3.0.33-3.7.el5_3.1 (Cent OS 5.3) samba is configured as PDC and I use a ldap database for auth. All work fine, client is a part of domain and use remote profile stored in the server samba but the logon script didn't run. This is part of my smb.conf file workgroup = AMMINISTRAZIONE netbios

Newbie question - force file permission to user's secondary groups.
samba version is 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.7 -- I created users on both samba and the linux system, and created 3 groups on the system. Each of these groups own a specific directory, the directory on the filesystem belongs to root.groupfoo. On my smb.conf I gave each of these groups write access to its directory (@groupfoo to the share /groupfoo). So now every linux user belonging to groupfoo can write

pam_winbind: user needs new password
Hi, I just upgraded from Mandriva 2009.0 (Samba 3.2.3) to Mandriva 2009.1 (Samba 3.3.2), keeping all the same config files I had before. I use pam_winbind to authenticate users against MS Active Directory. Everything was working perfectly prior to the upgrade, and now everything seems to be fine except for one thing: no user can have access due to the following errors (taken from auth.log): May

PDC/BDC Problem
Hi all, I'm rather new to samba and trying to deploy a PDC/BDC Setup for our company. Got some books and the manpages here to help me :) The config-files are attached at the end of this mail. Used Samba is 3.2.7-11.6 on a SLES11 system. The PDC is running as ROLE_DOMAIN_PDC says testparm, the BDC as ROLE_DOMAIN_BDC. Both DCs use a LDAP (OpenLDAP 2.4.12-7) for user authentication. The LDAP

help with predict and plotting confidence intervals
Dear R help, This seems to be a commonly asked question and I am able to run examples that have been proposed, but I can't seems to get this to work with my own data. Reproducible code is below. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. The main problem is that I can not get the confidence lines to plot correctly. The secondary problem is that predict is not able to find my object

SMBD CPU climbs sky high when writing DPX files
Hello, I am experiencing a strange problem when writing (capturing) DPX video files to a Linux/Samba share. Basically, I'm seeing seeing a single smbd process go from 9 percent CPU utilization to 100 percent CPU utilization over the course of about 40 minutes. When smbd reaches 100 percent, the capture stops (drops frames). I have tested this with three different filesystem formats

Asterisk 1.8 drop calls after 15 minutes
Hi all, I face the subject strange behavior: calls arre dropped after 15 minutes on an asterisk 1.8.15.0. Only phones (SNOM300) connected to the Asterisk through OpenVPN seems to have the problem. From CDR, I see for 3 calls from this morning I'm aware of, that asterisk hangup after respectively 899s 894s 898s In logs I see WARNING[8213] chan_sip.c: Retransmission timeout reached on

for loops and counter interpolation
Hi I'm sorry about the triviality of my problem. I have a vector (v) of three columns (logA, logB, id). I want to compute (and plot) the correlation between logA and logB for different thresholds of id (e.g. >30, etc). So I tried: for(i in 1:100){ points(cor(v$logA[v$id>i], v$logB[v$id>i], use="complete.obs"), i)) } (i created a plot object already) but it comes with

most common VOIP echo simulaton for research purposes ?
Hi, I'm speech recognition researcher and would like to do some research on recognition robustness in echo distortion of speech signal. Since VOIP is becoming wide spread, I'd like to simulate (one or more) common echo distortions that mostly appear in voip communications ? Any example, FIR or IIR filter or acoustical system response ? Any other distortion worth researching ? Thanks

Most common level of a factor by
I'm looking for something along the lines of which ( table ( x ) == max ( table ( x ) ) ) to find the most common level of one factor by several other factors. For instance, I've got > X <- data.frame ( + x = factor ( sample ( c ( "A" , "B" , "C" , "D" ) , 20 , r = T ) ) + , z1 = factor ( sample ( c ( "Before" ,

The most common row in a matrix?
Hi, How do you get the most common row from a matrix? If I have a matrix like this array(1:3,dim=c(4,5)) [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5] [1,] 1 2 3 1 2 [2,] 2 3 1 2 3 [3,] 3 1 2 3 1 [4,] 1 2 3 1 2 in which rows 1 and 4 are similar, I want to find that vector c (1,2,3,1,2).
