ldap passwd sync problem with slave ldap server
Hello everyone! I'm having problem with the parameter ldap passwd sync = yes. If my ldapsam points to a master ldap server, it works perfectly. If it points to a slave ldap server, the samba attributes are update but not the userpassword. I'm using samba 3.4.3 with Fedora Directory 1.2. Viewing the log files I saw same strange messages when I trying to change my password: [2009/12/08

Very slow transfers to Samba on Ubuntu
I mounted a samba volume on XP. XP and Ubuntu are connected over 100Mbps ethernet (router). I am writing a 4GB file from XP to Ubuntu and the transfer is extremely slow : only around 1-1.5 MB/s. This is not a network or disk issue since at the same time this transfer is gonig on, I can scp the same file from XP to Ubuntu at 3-4 times faster (around 6MB/s). What could be wrong? Even for this

SA_RIGHT_USER_ACCT_FLAGS_EXPIRY, which I am in the process of trying to find out the semantics of. The source code apparently makes no reference to it in any way to elucidate its meaning. At this point I don't have much insight, the involved flags are things such= as #define SA_RIGHT_USER_ACCT_FLAGS_EXPIRY 0x00000010 #define SA_RIGHT_USER_SET_ATTRIBUTES 0x00000020 #define

Lock order violation and file lost
I will probably file a bug about this, but perhaps someone here will have some ideas. We have a problem with files being deleted instead of being saved when making changes in Microsoft Excel. The log shows an error of: 'Lock order violation'. This is with Samba 4.1.6 and happens on both Linux (2.6.25-14.fc9.i686) and Solaris 10. No such problem when running Samba 3.6.22. We have a setup

WG: PDC -> BDC Question
Hello Nick, I do not think it is possible to just copy files like this from one to the other samba. You can do the copy job with rsync or scp. I made a samba PDC and BDC with ldap master ldap slave. So on both servers are the same users Groups etc. Both machines must have the same SID Greetings Daniel -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: samba-bounces+mueller=tropenklinik.de@lists.samba.org

CentOS6 gvfs disk thrashing
We recently started upgrading users' workstations to CentOS6. Now we've come across an interesting issue: ~user/.local/share/gvfs-metadata is filling up with tons of files. Once there are around 69270 of them, no more are being created, and the NetApp filer the user's home is on logs: Directory ..../user/.local/share/gvfs-metadata/ reached the maxdirsize limit. PDC -> BDC Question
Hi Everyone, I was wondering I am setting up a BDC at another physically separate location on a different subnet, and I am currently working on what files I need to have copied between the computers and which need to be made on each server. The specific question I am dealing with is what TDB files I need to replicate filesystems between the two servers. Below is a list of what the files I

(9.2) panic under disk load (gam_server / knlist_remove_kq)
9.2 PRERELEASE (today) / amd64 Hello, I'm seeing a panic while trying to build a poudriere repository. As far I can see it always happens when gam_server is started (ie xfce is running) and under disk load (poudriere bulk build) : (That is something new, the box was pretty stable) the complete crash dump (core.0.txt) is here: http://user.lamaiziere.net/patrick/panic_gam_server.txt Fatal

Inherit groups
Hey guys, samba seems to have a share level "inherit owner" option to propagate the ownership of the current folder to any new files/folders created directly under it. Is there an equivalent command to do this at the group level? I know you can do it using the SUID/SGID bits but I'm worried about the security risk that comes with doing it this way. Thanks for the help, Nick -- W.

Redhat Authconfig errors
Ok, I've got most everything setup, but I'm not able to confirm pam_ldap and nss_ldap are working properly. (Actually given the examples in SBE, they still appear to be returning information from local files rather than the ldap info.) I wanted to go back and check my authconfig and reset the parameters. However now when I do a authconfig I get this: ---- authconfig --enablecache

How to configure PAM in Centos 5 64-bit?
I'm new the the PAM world and have CentOS 5 64-bit installed on a system. I want to tweak some of the system-auth module settings, but the top of the file says anything configured in that file will get overwritten, as it is autogenerated by authconfig. I checked out authconfig, and it doesn't seem clear to me how to make the changes I need via authconfig. So, where do I need to look?

kickstart and logins.def question
Hello all: Happy New Year to everyone and thank you for all the knowledge this past year. I have a hopefully simple question about kickstart. In the authconfig section I can enable ldap, credential caching, etc.. Using the GUI tool there's an option to create the user home directories on first login. The docs don't show a similar option for authconfig in kickstart. For now I'm

Puppet not honoring alternate path to namespaceauth.conf
Greetings, I''ve two questions for y''all. 1) I''ve setup an alternate installation path for puppet in a site local directory outside of ''the usual places''. Puppetd seems to insist that /etc/puppet/namespaceauth.conf exists despite setting :authconfig in both puppet and puppetd. As a result part of my installation now includes a symlink to point

Good afternoon friends I have a problem with SAMPA My environment has several branches. And each branch office has an AD Win 2012 Server And I have in each branch a Centos Server 7.7 with sampa 4.9.1 that only communicates with the matrix server AD. Samba does not communicate with the local AD Server. Follow my SAMPA setup # See smb.conf.example for a more detailed config file or # read the
