pcl to pdf
Everyone, I am currently using a vsifax program (pcltotiff) to convert pcl files to tiff files on a SCO Unix box, and then I am using tiff2pdf on a Centos 5.9 box to convert the file to a pdf. There are other commands that deal with multiple page tiff's and pdf's that are part of the process, but the above basic process has worked very well. The only thing I would like to enhance is a

Xen stress testing for production
Hi -- I''m just a little nervous about deploying my Xen VMs. Will they perform when in actual production? How stable is Xen, really? So, I thought I would do some stress testing before deploying it. I''d like to test VMs running various services, alone and all together... DNS, HTTP/S, Tomcat, IMAP/SMTPD. Does anyone here have suggestions for load generating software? Or, has

Code works standalone, yet same code fails when part of package
Hi I'm missing something here but I cannot figure out what. What I can see is that the same code works when I load it via source(...) yet fails when I execute it after loading the package I have built (which includes the code. Below is a transcript of my R session. First I load the code from a file, using source(). Then I execute it fine. Then I remove the function object, I load the

Howto install domU CentOS 5 directly on partition
Hi. I am new to CentOS (Debian user) and I am looking for way how to install CentOS 5 on domU in the way that I have it directly on dom0 LVM partition. If I install it with virtual-manager then the installation program takes that partition as a disk and then creates new partitions on it. I don''t want it that way because I cannot then mount it from dom0. Is there some way how to

Does Huawei break the license of CentOS?
Hello, Peter, thanks for your reply 1. Huawei DOES change the distribution EULA, if type in the following command: vi /usr/share/eula/eula.en_US you can see it changed to "HUAWEI EulerOS-2.0" which is a copyright one, let alone original GPL license. According to CentOS Linux EULA The Distribution is released as GPLv2. Individual packages in the distribution come with their own

ACPI, Vista and Xen
Hi all, I''m running XP and 2003 Server fine as HVM guests (under a 32 bit non-pae Xen 3.0.3 self-compiled). I''ve read that Vista can *not* be /installed/ under Xen for it checks for ACPI support and install fails if it isn''t present. What if I do the install first from, say, plain Qemu (I''re reused qemu images from Xen) or VMWare (I''ve converted

Centos 7 License???
Today I did a yum upgrade to my kvm'ized Centos 7 test machine (perhaps a bad day to do such a thing) and received new kernel vmlinuz-3.10.0-229.1.2.el7.x86_64, among many other things. When I rebooted, I was asked to confirm (or renew, or some such) my license. My LICENSE ??? I was booting in text mode and the actions required were a) unfamiliar, and b) hard to understand. As I recall, I

Wine + .NET: Legal?
Hi, Looking at the .NET redistributable EULA, there are things in it like this: NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A VALID EULA FOR ANY "OS PRODUCT" (MICROSOFT WINDOWS 98, [etc etc]), YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO INSTALL, COPY OR OTHERWISE USE THE OS COMPONENTS AND YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS UNDER THIS SUPPLEMENTAL EULA. It seems to me that this means that you can't install the .NET redistributable if

Using Centos
We need to resell systems that run commercial software on Linux. We were using Red Hat ES 3 originally. But we later realize that we cannot redistribute RHES without paying them huge subscription fee because of the trademark. I came across CentOS from WBEL mailing list. This looks like a godsend to me. I have some questions regarding CentOS. I would appreciate it if someone can provide me the

How to avoid "firstboot" in CentOS 7 kickstart
Dear Experts, Sorry about taking shortcut and asking everybody... My question is: how do you avoid "firstboot" screen in latest CentOS 7.3 kickstart. I have installed about a dozen of CentOS 7 (none of which was 7.3) with that kickstart file. None of them ever went to firstboot screen on first boot. Now after kickstart installation of CentOS 7.3 it goes into firstboot screen showing

Home Directories on the fly?
Hello all, I have a functional samba/windind file server (SLES 10) thats a member server of an Active Directory domain. I'm able to successfully resolve user and group accounts from AD. The problem I'm having is samba isn't creating home directories automatically when I try to map to a AD user share from Win XP. What I am able to do is, when I ssh into the machine with an AD user,
