Bug? Problem with domain joining: invalid dn (sambaDomainName=fnf-int, (null))
hello list, I habe to upgrade a SAMBA/LDAP installation from Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 10.4 (alpha2) because Windows 7 needs to be supported. I started by upgrading the BDC (OpenLDAP configured as consumer) to the new version, making sure that XP can join the domain and users can log in. As this was finished, I upgraded the PDC (holding smbldap-tools and OpenLDAP configured as producer). Both

Samba-Domainmembers in a Samba-Domain / sambaDomainName=HOSTNAME
Hello, I have running a domain with 3 Subnets and 3 Servers (one per Subnet). Now, I need some Samba-Member Servers. The new Servers used the same LDAP-Configuration as the others, they had a legal Machine-Account and where normally added to the Domain "net join domain". All works fine. But: Every new Member-Server creates an own LDAP-Entry under the root-path:

The samba domain name is LDAP, but when I try to start samba I cannot and in the log I found: [2008/03/18 11:12:14, 1] lib/smbldap_util.c:add_new_domain_info(216) add_new_domain_info: failed to add domain dn= sambaDomainName=LDAP,dc=myHost,dc=com with: Invalid DN syntax invalid DN Where

sambaDomainName=DOMAIN for next free id
Hi, I'm following JHT's example doc off the web. I just applied a patch for the confiure.pl script for the smbldap-tools that John gave me. It now makes the sambaUnixIdPooldn object default to: cn=sambaDomainName=DOMAIN whereas the output of the configure.pl script given in Chapter 9 of the book is shown as: sambaDomainName=DOMAIN I now have the first version of the sambaUnixIdPooldn

Why (&(objectClass=sambaDomain)(sambaDomainName=SARDINE))?
I have a member server that is constantly querying the LDAP server with - (&(objectClass=sambaDomain)(sambaDomainName=SARDINE)) - when security=domain and workgroup=backbone. The server DOES authenticate domain users, and everything seems to work, but this draining resources. This is RH9, Samba 3.0.3pre2 (although I'm pretty certain I saw this on 3.0.2) and OpenLDAP openldap-2.1.25-1

sambaDomainName=HOST i.s.o. ...=DOMAIN
Hello, I'm trying to setup a standalone samba server named "alta" in a workgroup named "TDOM". So I put workgroup = TDOM in the 'smb.conf' file. The netbios name of the machine defaults to 'ALTA' so no netbios name paramater is needed (I assume). I've put the user and group accounts in an ldapsam backend and I also created a

Samba 3.4.7 with LDAP authentication
Hello All, I have samba (Version 3.4.7) installed on a Ubuntu Server 10.04 (64-bit) using apt. I'm attempting to authenticate users connecting to the samba share over LDAP following the documentation https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/serverguide/C/samba-ldap.html, but the authentication over LDAP fails. The OpenLDAP server was already configured to include the samba.schema, so i have skipped all

Member Server creates sambaDomainName LDAP entry
Short version: Why does my domain member server create a sambaDomainName entry in LDAP? Long Version: I have created a Domain Member Server for a "NT4 style" Samba domain with an LDAP backend. It is a print server, running Winbind (because it solved a group SID mapping problem and an 'invalid SID' error in syslog), and it works fine in all other respects, but this: After

database got corrupted, users could not login
I'm running Samba with LDAP on SuSE. Users had trouble logging in - finally I just ran db_recover & restarted ldap and samba. It looks like the LDAP database got corrupted somehow because samba couldn't get the LDAP data. Also I created accounts with smbldap-useradd -m -a -B 1 username. Some of the users were just using the same password samba seemed to kick them out. I used
