samba file server with heartbeat and drbd
Hello, While working on heartbeat/pacemaker for a web service stored on drbd, I've thought what I've learnt could also be applied to samba in order to build a fault tolerant file server in our domain. While digging samba's doc, I've found that CTDB could also fulfill the need and is maybe better suited as it's samba-related. But on the other hand, I'd appreciate to begin

installed centos 4.4 and want to stay with it
Hello, I installed CentOS 4.4 (for the first time) around a month ago (minimal install) and I just typed "yum update". I was surprised to see a big list of updates and feared an upgrade to centos 4.5 or 5.0 so I stopped the process with CTRL+C. What could I do to check everything is ok and stay with CentOS release 4.4 ? Thanks in advance, -- Mikael Kermorgant PS : here's a

simple command to check domain membership
Hello, I'm planning to automate domain joining with samba+winbind for a classroom. Using cfengine, I'll have to trigger domain joining by checking current status via a shell command. An example : has_hostname = ( '/bin/test -f /etc/hostname' ) What would be a simple and safe test to check whether or not the machine has already been joined to the domain ? Thanks in advance,

Interdomain trust between Samba and W2003 ADS in native mode
Hi, I try to setup a two-way interdomain trust relationship between Samba 3.2.4 and W2003 ADS in native mode (not mixed-mode). I follow this Samba HOWTO without success: http://us6.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/InterdomainTrusts.html All is working fine if i use a Windows NT4 Server instead of W2003 ADS. Is there something to do on Samba or ADS so that it works ? Security

bluetooth nap and internet access problem
Hello, I''m trying to configure my desktop as a bluetooth network access point for my ipaq (as explained in http://www.stolk.org/debian/bluetooth.html). I''m running shorewall version 2.2.1 on debian testing with a local network via eth0 and internet access via eth1. I''ve created a bridge br0 for eth0 and bnep0 and activated bridging in shorewall. dhcpd is listening

Also: I noticed that some of the directives, such as datadir, might be non-functional or ignored elsewhere in coding of swat Could this be the cause of the above errors ? Finally here is the cli output

Using konqueror with help.start
For R-1.2.3 on a Debian 2.3 (testing) GNU/Linux system I would like to have help.start use Konqueror (the KDE web browser) instead of netscape. I can start it with help.start(browser = "konqueror") but trying to search for terms from the search page does not work. My guess is that I need to configure javascript. The default is not to allow javascript at all. I do not wish to

"help.start() and kde konqueror"
Hello, When I attempt to use KDE 3.03 "konqueror" for help.start() I can't get the search engine to work but otherwise help.start() is OK. How should "konqueror" be setup for this? The response to the command is below: > help.start(browser= 'konqueror') Making links in per-session dir ... If konqueror is already running, it is *not* restarted, and you must

flash and konqueror
I am stuck taking this stupid online training course from work. It just sits there doing nothing with firefox, so I pulled up konqueror, and tell it to lie and say it's IE. That works... until it gets to the content, which some HR moron is *positive* desperately needs to be in flash. I've gone into konqi's configuration, and told it to scan the correct directory for plugins, and yet

wine and Samba
Hi! Is there a way to run Wine from a Samba connection opened in Konqueror? When I open it via Konqueror (double-clicking=>run with=>wine), it just opens a window and close it fastly. When I activate the 'open in terminal' option, the terminal leaves blank. What can I do? Thanks. Vinicius

Problems connecting to httpd help server with some browsers
Hello, sorry to provide only very little testing, but with the release date nearing, I thought it better to report this quickly than to wait for an uncertain period until I find more time. I'm observing strange problems connecting to the httpd help server with konqueror (KDE 4.3.1): options (help_type="html") options (browser="konqueror") help ("print")

Include Exclude .. a canonical way
I'm wrestling with include/exclude rules and not finding a way to do this: Simplified command: rsync -avv --exclcude-from=rsync_exclude \ ~/ /dest/ Backup ~/ including ~/.kde3.5/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml but excluding everything else under ~/.kde3.5 Here are some of what hasn't worked in an EXCLUDE file. + /.kde3.5/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml

Konqueror Ajax update
I had been comparing IE and Firefox Ajax performance, and since I have a couple of Unix boxes in my workshop, I threw Konqueror into the mix, and reported here earlier today (or yesterday) that Konqueror ( 3.4.3) could handle Ajax perfectly, at least as far as the simplest AWDWR Ajax example (./example/index) was concerned. It occurred to me to do a more grueling test. I took the

search documentation not working with mozilla and konqueror (PR#5379)
Full_Name: Sergei Zuyev Version: Version 1.8.0 OS: Mandrake Linux 9.1 Submission from: (NULL) (195.137.88.252) When mozilla or konqueror are used as help browser, the Search Engine page links nor the search do not work. konqueror vs. centos and mathematics
I'm running centos 7. Firefox spends so much time in th D state that I am trying konqueror. Displaying mathematics on wikipedia, e.g. Remez algorithm seems to be a no go. Wikipedia seems to use tex, so I installed texlive and texlive-* . Firefox hadn't needed it and it did not seem to help konqueror. My guess is that there is a bit somewhere that I need to flip, but I have no idea where it
