Got "I have no name!" error after deleting a samba user whose username is identical to the AD user
Hi, Thanks for your quick response. Now I come to a better understanding about Samba and how AD works. I wonder is there any quick fix for the "I have no name!" problem. Because I cannot login Ubuntu via SSH. Now I have to use another user and use `su zhangyy` to use my user. One more question, is there a proper way to let the AD user shares its home directory on Samba using the same

samba 3.4 and 3.5 bug or misconfig: why is idmap uid and idmap gid needed for an AD only idmap config?
Hello list, I'm currently struggling in creating a running config for samba 3.4.9 and 3.5.6 on solaris 9 (active directory on windows 2003 R2 SP2 with rfc2307 schema extension, openssl 0.9.8o, libiconv 1.13.1, heimdal 1.4, cyrus-sasl 2.1.23, openldap 2.4.23) The relevant part in smb.conf is in [global] winbind enum users = Yes winbind enum groups = Yes winbind

Samba 3.5.6 pam problems
Hi, I've setup Samba 3.5.6 as a member server in a 2003R2 domain with a single dc, idmapping is by rfc2307 with a tdb backend for builtin accounts etc, I can list users and groups using wbinfo and I can create shares and access them from the windows server, files and folders owned by ad users show the correct user and group names so mapping appears to be working, I can su to ad accounts but I

Got "I have no name!" error after deleting a samba user whose username is identical to the AD user
Hi, I am running Samba 4.3.11-Ubuntu on a cluster of Ubuntu 16.04 and Samba is configured as an AD Server. I got "I have no name!" error after deleting a samba user whose username is identical to my Linux username (An AD user). Here is how this happens: The AD user is zhangyy (uid 12369). 1. We used `smbpasswd -a zhangyy` to created a new smb user. 2. We used `smbpasswd -x zhangyy`

Can I authenticate with windows UPN names using winbind? If so how?
Hi all, I am trying to set up an linux server that allows users to log in via their windows UPN names rather than their SamID's. I have set up two test boxes: debian linux 7 running Winbind Version 3.6.6 Ubuntu Linux 14.04 running Winbind version 4.1.6-Ubuntu. smb.conf is at bottom of this post. I've bound both linux boxen to our Active Directory Server running 2008R2 and can return

Logging into linux machine using AD account?
Greetings. I have just started scratching the surface of using Samba to create a SSO environment for my network. I have been playing a bit with both SuSE 9.3 and CentOS 4.1 to authenticate to an AD PDM (W2K). I've made it the farthest with the CentOS server. I have joined it to the domain and been able to verify AD users and groups using wbinfo [-u|-g] and getent [passwd|group]. I have

err: I have no name (Idmap Ldap)
I succesfully setted up the winbind with "idmap backend = ldap:ldap:..." LDAP is used only to store idmap's. The problem: On the server with OpenLDAP and winbind, all is working fine! Thanks to the SAMBA team and OSS community! But on the second server, where winbind is used to authenticate users and retrieve uid's from server with ldap, users get error message: "id:

bug in indexer/indexer-worker
Hi, I have already mentioned this in http://www.dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2014-November/098592.html I could reproduce the errors above in a self-compiled v2.2.18 and the prebuilt packages from xi.rename-it.nl (in addition to version 2.2.15 mentioned in the link) The problem occurs when enabling fts_tika in the plugins (tried tika 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8). I tried to move a folder of my mailbox

wbinfo -i WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND on samba 4.2.2
Hi, We are planning an update from Samba 3.x to 4.2.2 and installed Samba 4.2.2 on a test VM (samba-test). samba-test should be a basic AD member like in this example: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server#Set_up_a_basic_Member_Server_smb.conf With both our old config and a new one created analog to

wbinfo -i returns the same id for all users, authentication doesn't seem to go through winbind at all
I've got a Debian/Jessie Samba 4.2.14 running as an AD member. ADC is a Windows2008R2 server. Join worked without problem. # net ads testjoin Join is OK wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work perfectly and provides a list of users and groups from the AD as expected. wbinfo -i <user> works too: # wbinfo -i TESTAD\\testuser

Using samba AD in mixed OS environment
True that. oddjob wasn't running, now it's fine, but apparently everything is the same. In CentOS I see a folder created by my new "testuser" in Windows. The folder's owner is 1000024 while getent passwd testuser responds with 11184 which is nowhere near the same. I guess I'm not making something right during the whole configuration. Make a share owned by a service account available to members of an AD group

To do what you want you need to use winbind (other ways if doing it are available, but this is the samba mailing list) and then use either the 'ad' or 'rid' backend,

centos 6.5 sernet-samba 4.1.6 member server winbind idmap fail
Hi everybody, I've searched deeply into the samba wiki and the list for some working examples, but I cannot find my way out, I'm a kind of rough samba user (let's say almost newbie).. so asking help here: This is my setup: DC (samba.my.domain.com <http://samba.my.domain.com/>): CentOS 6.5 with sernet-samba 4.1.6 started in "ad" mode (upgraded successfully from

"samba-tool user add" and idmap shenanigans
Hi all, We're in the process of finally moving from our aging Samba3-based infrastructure across to Samba4. Rather than trying to migrate, we're just making a clean break so that we can do it properly from day one, as there were likely some mistakes that were made years ago we want to leave behind. The machines under test are virtual machines running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS AMD64. I've

Hiya, I've run into a problem on a Samba 4.5.8 active directory domain controller. The domain controller seems to work to authenticate against (I have a couple of domain members). However wbinfo throws an error when used locally. My configs are posted at the bottom of the page. # wbinfo -t checking the trust secret for domain SMC via RPC calls succeeded # wbinfo -u <list of domain
