Roaming profile & f-secure problem
Hi, are there any know problems with f-secure scanner and roaming profiles? We have a lot of users with problems syncing their roaming profile from the domain server. It seems to be a problem with f-secure's on-access scanning (may be timeout problem?). Some users have to login three or four times, before getting their roaming profile and not the default profile. Switch profile from local to roaming?
I've got a WinXP machine that was configured for local profiles. I have now joined that machine to the domain, but when I try to log in as a user, it tries to use a roaming profile. Fine, that's what I want anyway. But it doesn't do the smart thing and copy the user's local profile to roaming -- it gives an error instead. OK, no problem, I will change the type. I log in as

Samba 3 as pdc : Roaming profile cannot be created.... win2k workstation
I have Samba 3 running on gentoo as a pdc. I read in someone's forum posting to try enabling acls and that didn't seem to do much good. I can get the computers to be added to the domain using their smb username/passwords and when they login, the correct shares corresponding to their users map perfectly; however, my biggest problem is when they do login it says the following: Windows

user's profile not deleted
Hi, I would like to ask, will the roaming profile directory in C:\Documents and Settings\username, will be deleted once the user logs out? Mine isn't. I'm worried that, for a thousand users, one workstation would have a thousand directories? I believe those are not local profiles, since it is saved into the server every time the user logs out.

Roaming Profile won't upload to workstation that didn't create it
Hi, I believe I've had a 'hidden' roaming profiles problem with Samba for a while (I have no idea when it first manifested itself - sometime between 3.0.2 and 3.0.21a). When I create a new user, their client workstation creates and updates the profile without any problems. Existing profiles used by existing client workstations are also fine. However, when I try to logon as an

roaming profile not uploaded correctly when logging out for the first time
I have a strange issue with roaming profiles. It only happens for users which has no roaming profile on a Samba server yet. When a user logs out for the first time, some files can't be copied from: C:\Documents and Settings\username\SendTo\ to a profiles directory on the server. (Files like 31/2Floppy(A).lnk, some *.tmp files etc.). Only very rarely, a first-time logout process happens

Roaming Profile gets deleted
Hi there, I try to move our W2K Domain to samba. I managed to dump a list of the old users with its SID's and created them on the samba domain which has the same sid like the old W2k domain. Then the users should be able to use their old roaming profile without changing the profiles sid. This works if the computer which acesses the domain has already the profile on its disk. If the

problems writing to profile share when updating from samba 2.2.3a to 2.2.5
Hi, we updated our samba 2.2.3a to 2.2.5 because of several printing problems. Now our Clients (win 2k & xp) can't write to their profiles share (the windows error-message was: "this file is used by another process", but there weren't any other processes from this user). In the samba logfile we can't see any write-attempt from the client. Our smb.conf: [global]

Hi, I use samba 3.0.22 on Debian Sarge as PDC for windows XP SP1 and SP2. Sometimes, users get the message "Windows cannot found the roaming profile on server so user will get a default profile". (sorry, it's not the official message, I had to translate, because I get the message in french) This error comes only if user log in quickly after the boot. If they wait a little

Problem with large files
Hi we have samba 3.0.14a on FreeBSD 5.4. We tried with different kind of locking and oplocks (both enabled and disabled). If we try to copy from a Windows XP client a file larger than 3g, we get these error: Cannot copy XXX. The specified network name is no longer available. We traced this problem in the logs (log level 10) and we got this error ------------ [2006/09/19 10:29:41, 5]

Win2k Profile problem
ok, I have Samba 2.2.0alpha2 (on RedHat 6.2) up and running as a PDC, I can add Win2k machines to the domain and the machine accounts are automatically created. (finally!) Now, my problem is when a user logs off the machine for the first time, their profile is created, BUT(!) it only makes rwx permissions for SOME of the directories in the profile, this is what I mean: [root@samba profile]# ls -l

Help! Settings in roaming profile are not "sticking"
I'm reinstalling my Windows XP box. It has been on my home domain with a roaming profile for some time. I had earlier problems with the roaming user not able to log in at all but I can now log in using that account thanks to deleting the samba cache. The problem now is that settings in the roaming profile are not "sticking". For example, the old profile has the "Coffee

A simple question about PRINCOMP
Hi, I just wonder if this is a rounding error by the princomp command in R. Although this does not make much sense, using a hypothetical dataset, a, a<-matrix(runif(1000),100,10) I did PCA with the princomp, and compared it with the results estimated with the eigen and the prcomp commands. And I found some differences in the results: opposite signs in the loadings; slight differences in
