server signing broken for non-kerberos auth
I'm working with the Solaris bundled version of samba 3.5.5 and having a
problem with server signing. samba is configured into an active directory
domain with security = ads.
With signing enabled, connections from clients in the domain work fine.
However, connections from clients not in the domain fail:

>net use /user:WIN\henson \\ike.unx.csupomona.edu\henson

ZFS ACLs/Samba integration
I''m currently prototyping a Solaris file server that will dish out user
home directories and group project directories via NFSv4 and Samba.
I have samba configured and integrated into our local active directory,
with ACL mapping working. I''m a little confused as to the behavior of the
ZFS ACL though.
on a brand-new filesystem, touching a file results in:

enterprise scale redundant Solaris 10/ZFS server providing NFSv4/CIFS
We are looking for a replacement enterprise file system to handle storage
needs for our campus. For the past 10 years, we have been happily using DFS
(the distributed file system component of DCE), but unfortunately IBM
killed off that product and we have been running without support for over a
year now. We have looked at a variety of possible options, none of which
have proven fruitful. We are

ZFS shadow copy patches
I was wondering if there was any news on the patches proposed by Ed Plese
last year regarding updates for shadow copies to be better compatible with
Solaris ZFS:

Reviewing the release notes for the upcoming 3.2 release:

disable '_' to '/' replacement in %S for default service configuration
We've been using a fairly old version of samba for quite some time to serve
user home directories and group project directories with a configuration
approximately like:
-----
[global]
default service = groups
[homes]
path = /export/user/%u
[groups]
path = /export/group/%S

This has worked out very well, the samba configuration is minimal, and does

ZFS ACL''s broken over NFS
As is altogether far too common an occurance, we were having a problem
where a file was not inheriting the correct ACL, but rather a horribly
munged one resulting in incorrect permissions and security problems.
It appeared something was chmod''ing the file after creation, but despite
best efforts we simply could not find the culprit. After much
investigation, we determined the ACL was

Kerberos/GSSAPI support
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone was looking at implementing
draft-ietf-secsh-gsskeyex-00 in OpenSSH?
My patches for SSH version 1 Kerberos 5 support (heavily based upon
work done by Dan Kouril) are now available from
http://www.sxw.org.uk/computing/patches/
Is there any interest in integrating these into the distribution? If so, I'd
be happy to update them to the development version.
Cheers,

Snapshots silently eating user quota
All,
I assume this issue is pretty old given the time ZFS has been around. I have
tried searching the list but could not get understand the structure of how
ZFS actually takes snapshot space into account.
I have a user walter on whom I try to do the following ZFS operations
bash-3.00# zfs get quota store/catB/home/walter

MySQL server has gone away
I'm running 2.0.17 and I'm still seeing a decent amount of "MySQL
server has gone away" errors, despite having multiple hosts defined in
my auth userdb 'connect'. This is Debian Lenny 32-bit and I'm seeing
the same thing with 2.0.16 on Debian Squeeze 64-bit.
E.g.:
Jan 12 20:30:33 auth-worker: Error: mysql: Query failed, retrying:

Printer download - NOT WORKING
Hi,
I played around with samba 2.2.5 and cups and tried
to get it working. Well everything is fine, but the driver upload to the
client WILL NOT WORK.
I used the current stable downloads, latest patch for printing, prebuilds
from Lars Mueller ....
I put together everything.
If one has a working samba//cups please tar it
and place it on our ftp-server.
I don't know what's wrong here

quota-support seems to be broken in 3.0.6/3.0.7
Hello
we're using samba based on the debian-package, which we translated
including the configure-option "--with-quotas"
The user-interaction with quotas is OK, in his (the users) view the
partition-size is limited to his quota-hard-limit. This works both with
XFS and EXT3.
Windows (XP SP1 and SP2) administration of quota is not possible. Using
3.0.5 I can do a

smbclient with Kerberos works, smbclient with NTLM does not?
Hello,
I am investigating some strange authentication problems with our network. I
am attempting to access a share on a DC with smbclient. If I authenticate
with kerberos (kinit, then smbclient -k) then everything works fine. If,
instead I use -U administrator -W DOMAIN, or just -U administrator, I get
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
This is samba 3.3.2.

Windows 2003 AD <-> Samba 3.0.23c
Hi all
I have a network with a Windows 2003 AD (10.10.10.5) and a Samba 3.0.23c
(10.10.10.8). I want Samba to join the domain and get it's
user/group/permission info from my Windows 2003 server. I have followed
http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/unixclients.html#ch9-adsdc
And it seams to join and work with wbinfo/getent/"net ads
join/info/status". When I try to login with

smbcacls cannot locate the object of a samba share
Hello
smbcacls is not able to locate the object of a share.
I've attached a copy of the smb.conf file and the debug output of the
smbcacls command.
Within XP/NT I'm able to get and set the acls with no problem.
Thanks

programming libsmbclient
hi all,
I have a strange problem using the libsmbclient api..
retrieving or stating files named with percents in is for some
of them impossible. Example: a file located at "smb://test/test/%7C2.txt" cannot be retrieved
with my code, smbc_open fails with the code NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_INVALID.
I am not sure but, url encoding/decoding that would escape strings with "percent"

Samba 3.0.37 with Windows Server 2008
I'm running Windows Server 2008 and trying to connect to Samba 3.0.37 on Opensolaris. The Samba system is a member of a Windows Server 2008-based Active Directory domain - it was able to join the domain just fine - and Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 can connect, but Windows Server 2008 SP2 cannot connect. The log file is posted below - I'm guessing the key is the

Join fails with 'SPNEGO login failed: invalid parameter'
Hi,
I am running Samba 3.2.4 on a Solaris 10 SPARC machine. The config is pretty
simple (see below). Security is set to 'domain'. The PDC and BDC are running
3.0.30 without problems.
When joining the machine to the domain with 'net rpc join', it fails with:
Could not connect to server 130.37.79.2
Connection failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
when running the net command
