Hi all,
I'm trying to get winbind going on a different PC to the one I've
already got working, but I can't figure out why winbind won't work on
this other PC. It mostly works (wbinfo works, net ads testjoin reports
OK) but "getent passwd" doesn't return anything. The winbind log
reports this:

authenticating a linux samba client to a win2k domain
Hello crew,
I'm having troubles with authenticating a linux samba client to a
win2k domain. Without creating local users I want to be able to log
on using a user and pass valid only in the windows domain.
Somehow I seem to be stuck on the last part:

permission issues between 3.4.0 & 3.0.3?
Hi all!!
I'm experimenting a set of problems when trying to connect Samba client to
windows. I don't have admin rights on the windows side, so I should trust
all my winSA admin is telling me.
Windows side (server):
In the server Side (win2k3), the SA defined a shared resource.
The share-permissions tab the "domain users" group has typical permissions,

Windows 2008 pdc troubles
We are in the process of upgading our windows 2003 pdc's to windows
2008Rr2. No problem there, but our samba/winbind clients are beginning
to show some strange behaviour.
In the beginning we saw a lot of messages appear in the logfiles.
Example :

winbind and smb tries to auth as pdc$ rather than local name when using ADS
Hi all,
I've been working on getting Samba to authenticate via ADS for the
past few weeks with some lack of success. I had somewhat of a
breakthrough the other day realizing that the problem was related to
the kerberos authentication between Samba and the Win 2008 R2 AD
server. Trying to fix this I generated a keytab with ktpass which I
uploaded to the server.
I've been successful to

wbinfo returns no domain users
Hi,
I've spent two days trying to figure out how to solve this,
researching on the web, etc, and found no answer... :S
I've setup a Ubuntu 9.04 with Samba and Winbind, joined the domain
(using RPC) and when I try to list users and groups using wbinfo I got
nothing.
I already tryed deleting tdb files from /var/lib/samba and restarting
samba and winbind, joined the domain again,

ntlm_auth and Server 2008 issues
We are having the same Samba issue as noted here:
http://lists.freeradius.org/pipermail/freeradius-users/2009-November/msg00664.html
Has anybody on this list experienced this " \NETLOGON fnum 0xareturned
critical error. Error was NT_STATUS_PIPE_DISCONNECTED" error? This
wasn't happening until our AD admin upgraded the AD servers to windows
server 2008 R2.

Mixed success with Samba 3.0.28 and ADS
Hi.
I'm running FreeBSD with Samba 3.0.28 and have had success previously
with FreeBSD and an earlier version of Samba, and am in the process of
setting up a member server to act as a file server using the above
combination.
I have created a kerberos ticket, and successfully joined the domain:
ksm-smb# net ads join -UAdministrator%password
Using short domain name -- END-DESIGN

resolve KDC network address error
Hello Samba-List-Users
I have a problem with KDC network name resolution. I tried to google it
and sought help on IRC#samba, to no avail. So I'll post my problem here.
In the spirit of privacy and normalization all server names in this post
are replaced. CAPTIAL server names are actually capitalized in the
configuration files.

idmap_ad and multiple domians
Has anyone else gotten samba functioning with idmap_ad and multiple domains?
In our environment we have a domain with two child domains. There is one child
domain for students, and another for faculty staff. Our servers are joined to
the student domain, but need to be able to enumerate users in the staff domain.
When attempting to lookup a user (wbinfo -i 'NAU\car3') that only exists

nss_winbind / offline logon
Hello list users,
I have been struggling to make my AD integrated Debian Lenny box to work fluently also when network connectivity is down. What I would like to achieve:
1) When no network available, local user should still work normally
2) If possible, AD located users should still be able to login if they have previously logged in successfully (cached login)
Number 2 is more like optional,

wbinfo -K not working
Dear List!
I have the problem described at
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2008-February/138451.html
It is materialized after an upgrade of samba/winbind. Everything was working
before.
I could not find the solution neither on the net, nor from people originally
having the problem, so here I am.
This problem is a showstopper for me. (I can login by changing pam_winbind
to pam_krb5, but this
