Adding Samba Server to Windows AD Domain
I'm having trouble adding a samba member server to a Windows Active Directory domain. samba server is version 3.0.28 compiled with ads support on Debian Sarge. I've read the Samba ADS Domain Membership HOWTO and followed it as best I could. I am successful authenticating with kinit -V mmaki@MY.DOMAIN.NET Password for mmaki@MY.DOMAIN.NET: Authenticated to Kerberos v5 Very minimal

cli_nt_create failed on pipe \spoolss. NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I have a network at my parent's which consists of 4 machines: 1 Linux Samba saver (Fedora 9, Samba 3.2.x) and 3 Windows Vista Home Premium machine. I have point and print set up, and all load the drivers successfully. However, when they try print, nothing happens. Windows said it was successful however - it appears (then vanishes) from the Windows print queue. However, in the samba logs,

Winbind Issue?
Hello, we are having this issue on two of our RHEL 5.2 servers. We have them set up to authenticate to our Windows 2003 domain. Everything works well for a while, but for some reason every few days the winbind service will stop working, this is what we see in the log file: [2009/02/25 04:02:01, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(41) ===============================================================

ADS Join and Insufficient Access
My agency is moving all users and computers to a new domain. Our current domain uses AD and the new domain will use AD. My current samba servers are running 3.0.20a with ADS security with winbind on Debian Stable (Sarge) with no problems. I set up a test samba server using 3.0.20b, the new krb5.conf and smb.conf. kinit works fine. ("Authenticated to Kerberos v5") I prestage the server

HP Photosmart C6180 and smbclient (and other unix based smb clients)
Hi, I'm trying to access a share called MEMORY_CARD on an HP Photosmart C6180 from a linux system. Smbclient keeps returning some form of access denied. Strangely enough, the finder application on Mac OS X is able to 'mount' it. I get the same error with smbclient under OS X. Windows has no trouble accessing it through explorer as well as through calls to net use with cmd.

The problem we're having is trying to connect to the Win 2k3 server from the samba

Samba 3.0.31 stills fails to read and write to socket.
Hi, I recently upgraded my servers from 3.0.28 to 3.0.31 trying to solve the winbind issue previously reported (Bug# 5551) but the issue is still happening in my servers. I have an ftp server (vsftpd), configured to use pam_winbind with krb5_auth and I see some random disconnects and my users cant login. My samba servers are member of a Windows 2003 domain. Some random thoughts
Dear all, I hope you will forgive me for posting without lurking, and indeed, without even being subscribed to the list. Let me first say that efforts such as Ogg shows there is still a lot of good in mankind, this is truly a great effort! While I haven't been lurking, I've been looking through the archives to see if this stuff has been discussed before, and I have also tried to read

Migrating samba domain to new computer.
Should have read this first: http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/upgrades.html#id2600749 Problem is I did it the wrong way on a few production systems. Odds are this is the second time I did it wrong. Running Debian Lenny using smbldap. It mostly works. Existing members of the domain are working OK. The first thing that got my attention is was not able to join a new xp workstation to

Fw: net join error
Did you follow step-by-step the guidelines explained in the HowTo to join ADS? We too have a W2K3 server updated to last sp and post-sp updates by Windows' automatic update and we encountered no problems following the HowTo. By example, the line "security" of smb.conf file must be set "ADS", not "domain" as in yours... In addition, the HowTo says

Lost trust relationship with domain controller
Hi all, Not less than 3 months ago we had our Solaris 9 samba server working happily. This is with samba 3.0.24 without ads support. The pertinent sections of the smb.conf file follow: [global] # workgroup = NT-Domain-Name or Workgroup-Name, eg: MIDEARTH workgroup = mydomain security = domain We created the machine trust acount on the server than used > net rpc join -U
