[Gluster-devel] gfid and volume-id extended attributes lost
Ram, As per the code, self-heal was the only candidate which *can* do it. Could you check logs of self-heal daemon and the mount to check if there are any metadata heals on root? +Sanoj Sanoj, Is there any systemtap script we can use to detect which process is removing these xattrs? Please use the systemtap script( https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/EGDa0ErwX0LV3y-gBYpfNA) to check which process is invoking remove xattr calls. It prints the pid, tid and arguments of all removexattr calls. I have checked for these fops at the protocol/client and posix translators. To run the script .. 1) install systemtap and dependencies. 2) install glusterfs-debuginfo 3) change the path

Ram, If you see it again, you can use this. I am going to send out a patch for the code path which can lead to removal of gfid/volume-id tomorrow. Ram, I sent https://review.gluster.org/17765 to fix the possibility in bulk removexattr. But I am not sure if this is indeed the reason for this issue. Ices0 and ShoutCast (and KiSS)
I have successfully set up a system with Ices0.4 and IceCast2.20 (and Tunez). It plays well using mpg123 or WinAmp. But I would like to use also my KiSS DVD player for the stream, and I have not been able to do so - It appearently needs 110% SHOUTcast compatibility. So I tried the IceCast2.3.1 - but it still didn't like the KiSS (or the other way around). In stead, I have added a SHOUTcast

Samba printing
Using samba 3.05 and the point and print features how does one setup tcp/ip ports for printing. After having loaded the print drivers using the APW all the printer ports show a local port on the samba server and all of my printers use a 192.168.10.X address. Is there anyway this can automatically happen without user intervention. I wasn't able to locate this info in the how to's.

HSM
I think there may be some confusion here. By HSM I was referring to Hierarchical Storage Management, whereby there are multiple levels of storage (fast+expensive <-> slow+cheap) and files migrate up or down. Originally it was used to keep data on tape with the metadata residing on disk though it has been expanded to allow a SAS/SATA hierarchy. Quite where PKI comes in I'm not sure,

[PATCH] ssh-pkcs11: allow providing unconditional pin code for PKCS11
I find this approach very bad in general.? PKCS#11 standard says that *private* keys should not be accessible without authentication. *Public* keys and certificates of course can and should be accessible with no authentication. SoftHSM misinterpreted this originally (older pkcs11 documents were less clear :), but they rectified this mistake. We should not repeat it.?

HSM
Hmm, don't you just love changing terminology! I've been using HSM systems at work since '99. BTW, DMAPI is the Data Management API which was a common(ish) extension used by amongst others SGI and IBM. Back to lvmcache. It looks interesting. I'd earlier dismissed LVM since it is block orientated, not file orientated. Probably because my mental image is of files migrating to

Purely from interest, is there any current FOSS implementation of HSM? I note that XFS has dropped support for DMAPI, have other filesystems? Logon script execution intermittent
Using Suse Enterprise 9.1 and Samba 3.013 and Win XP SP1 and SP2 workstations. Users logon scripts are not being run during logon in a reliable fashion. The could run without issue for 10 logons and on the 11th no mapped drives doesn't seem to be a specific workstation or XP version. Currently running with cranked up logging levels looking for a needle in a haystack. Anyone run into this?

[PATCH] ssh-pkcs11: allow providing unconditional pin code for PKCS11
Some HSM's such as Safenet Network HSM do not allow searching for keys unauthenticated. To support such devices provide a mechanism for users to provide a pin code that is always used to automatically log in to the HSM when using PKCS11. The pin code is read from a file specified by the environment variable SSH_PKCS11_PINFILE if it is set. Tested against Safenet Network HSM. ---

Gluster Scale Limitations
Hi all, Are there any scale limitations in terms of how many nodes can be in a single Gluster Cluster or how much storage capacity can be managed in a single cluster? What are some of the large deployments out there that you know of?
