Using a CentOS 6 Machine as a gateway/router/home server

IMHO, keeping the firewall function completely separate simplifies security. that router board can handle 300 Mbit/sec of

Routing setup with pfSense package
Is it possible to connect networks with different masks together? For example a 10.26.0.0/16 subnet with a 192.168.117.0/24 subnet. See this thread for more details... https://forum.netgate.com/topic/134218/tinc-initial-setup

Samba4 Windows Client Time Sync Issue
I just realized that some of my Windows 10 clients do not appear to be syncing the time correctly. I setup NTP to run on my Netgate PFSense server. It is using pfsense.pool.ntp.org Time Servers. I configured NTP on my Samba servers to point to back to the PFSense Server. NTP on the samba servers have the following ntp.conf files: # /etc/ntp.conf, configuration for ntpd; see ntp.conf(5) for

Q: Samba4 AD DC & small office file sharing
In lieu of virtualization, I wouldn't be opposed to some small, inexpensive appliance type device (sort of like the Netgate firewalls that run pfsense). I came across the MintBox Mini Pro (http://www.fit-pc.com/web/products/mintbox/mintbox-mini-pro/) Any experience or alternate suggestions? samba in centos 4.4: samba-3.0.10-1.4E.9 versus the latest from sernet samba3-3.0.23c-30
Hi people. I use centos on many my servers and they are running samba which comes with centos: samba-3.0.10-1.4E.9 From samba-3.0.10 to 3.0.23c many thnigs in code had change. Many bug fixes etc., code rewrote (for example oplock in later version of samba than 3.0.10). RedHat people don't have made a full of backports to their samba, only security things. So I have question, what do
