Problem cooperating with Windows and AD
Hi, I'm having a problem getting my Windows machines to access shares in Samba. When they browse to the Samba box it sometimes gives them an error saying that they don't have permission or that the server is unavailable. However this doesn't always happen and other times it lists the shares. When I try to access the shares it just prompts for the username/password over and over.

getent ??
I've installed Fedora Core 2 from scratch, got my DNS and VNC to work, next is Samba. I was running previously SAMBA 2.28a but now I'm working with 3.04. I've since bought Samba-3 by Example, and I'm following it fairly closely. I've got samba to work with no shares yet, I've run initgrps.sh to create my Domain Groups. Winbind is working. I do a getent groups and this is

Could not fetch trust account password for domain ...
I'm having some troubles with the winbindd. When trying to access a samba share, I receive the above error in the MACHINE_NAME.log file. I've ran the command smbpasswd -j MY_DOMAIN -r PDC -U Administrator, and it worked fine. wbinfo -u returns "Error looking up domain users", but I'm not sure if this is related to my 1st problem. I'm going to dump in my config files,

AW: getent not working (again)
I don't think that this is my problem. When I try 'getent passwd <user>' I get no output either. And we only store about 200 users. Is bug 3024 fixed in the newest version? I will try to apply the patch. J?rg -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: Gautier, B (Bob) [mailto:Bob.Gautier@rabobank.com] Gesendet: Freitag, 21. April 2006 12:54 An: Horchler, Joerg;

getent not working (again)
Hi all, after I searched the internet about a week now I can't find an answer to my problem: The company I work for is using a Windows 2003 Domain using the Windows Services for UNIX (SFU) and NIS. We are using two Domain Controllers that are hosting the ADS. Now I want to use Samba and NFS to implement a file server for our mixed client enviroment: There will be Linux, HP UNIX, Solaris,

Problems with Samba and Windows 2003 Active Domain Server
Can somebody with experience making a RedHat Fedora Core 3 server with Samba installed work in a Windows 2003 Active Domain please give me some pointers? I have a small installation with one Windows 2003 Server running as a domain controller for about 10 Windows XP machines. This is working just fine. I decided that I wanted to add a RedHat Fedora Core 3 server as a Mail server, running Cyrus IMAP

joining to a Domain with a tdbsam backend (smb.conf, testparm and log included)
I'm about to give up. It's been months now that I've been playing around with Samba 3.0. I've downloaded their documentation. Tried to follow it as much as possible, but I'm getting no where with adding machine accounts to a Domain, real fast. I've asked this question a couple of times at the Samba Mailing list, but have gotten no reply(probably my fault, not enough info).

samba-kerboros-winbind
I would like to be able to use Windows Active Directory accounts for logon to a Linux RH8 desktop. I have successfully used Kerberos to add the desktop to the AD domain. I am also able to use Kerberos or rpc to view users & groups. I have not been able to use winbind. I am using the Samba3.aplha22 RPM. Our AD domain has restrict anonymous set to 1 for the DC's. Member Server creates sambaDomainName LDAP entry
Short version: Why does my domain member server create a sambaDomainName entry in LDAP? Long Version: I have created a Domain Member Server for a "NT4 style" Samba domain with an LDAP backend. It is a print server, running Winbind (because it solved a group SID mapping problem and an 'invalid SID' error in syslog), and it works fine in all other respects, but this: After

samba 3 keeps trying to authenticate with the nt4 pdc using port 445
Hello, I'm running redhat enterprise as 3.2 with the included samba 3.0.2-6.3E. I'm trying to make this a domain member server in a nt4 domain. I've successfully joined the domain only after using the net join -p 139 option to force samba to use port 139, otherwise it kept trying to communicate over port 445. (I was watching the syn packets with tethereal). Typing wbinfo -g comes
