msaccess db corruption
Ok, I've tried all the "common" fixes, such as turning oplocks off on
the share. Twice a day the database has to be repaired.

Help requested for Aeris Dive Computer interface
Hi,
I'm attempting to run the Aeris Dive Computer interface (ACI V2.x) using WINE under Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jakalope release on an ASUS 1000HE netbook.
However, it doesn't seem to be working very well.
the install process seemed to work fine. It successfully created an icon under the WINE application for the interface.
On startup of ACI, it says that it cannot read the previous dive

Samba 4.1.8 Importing automountmap ldif entries from existing OpenLDAP setup or ?
So, I have a test domain set up with rfc2307 = yes .
Now I'm trying to figure out if a) my nfs automount data came over from OpenLDAP, and b) if not, how to get it into samba 4's ldap, or something else??? Do I need to rethink my approach?
Mount locations are pretty consistent based on primary group/userid
Needs to work on Linux.
Existing entries look like this...

Why Samba is stating files in /net??
running 3.4.5 on Solaris 10 sparc platform. Seeing odd behavior when
I'm watching my smbd process through truss. When ever I just onen my
Windows explorer window that just shows my mapped shares, the truss
shows that the smbd process is trying to stat everything under /net.
What is it doing that when I have no paths to /net specified in my
smb.conf file?
And is there anyway to stop

Samba shares freezing
All,
Looking for some help here. Not finding anything on the net that
looks the same as what I'm seeing. Running Solaris 10 Sparc, on a
Sunfire 5220, 16Gb of RAM. Samba version 3.4.5 and using ZFS file
systems with user quotas.
All cifs clients shares to this server freeze after about 10 to 15
minutes of connectivity. Only fix is to restart samba. I'm not getting
any errors

Joining Samba4 Member to Samba3 Domain
Before I start beating my head against the wall, is there a howto someplace
for joining a Samba4 member or BDC to a samba3 domain? Am I going about
this all wrong?
I most likely will update the PDC to samba 4 next summer due to the amount
of automation we have to modify that leverages OpenLDAP. The LDAP server
that comes with Samba4 seems kinda limited by comparison.
In the meantime, cannot

problems upgrading from 3.0.10 to 3.0.25b-0.4?
Hoping this is an error of stupidity or ignorance on my part.
Running Centos 4.6, after the big update from 4.5.
Samba would not communicate with our samba PDC (3.0.10), kept getting
NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME errors.
I will most likely update all our samba servers, but do not want to do
it knowing that the two versions may not talk.
Here's my smb.conf, currently functional - does not

Directory Contents Not Viewable
We have a Debian server running Samba 3.0.14a.
2 days ago this problem started in that we cannot view the contents of a
Samba share.
I can map a drive to a samba share and authenticate with no errors.
After authentication it just shows an empty directory on a Windows client?
I have tried numerous troubleshooting measures, such as increasing file
perms to world readable but have been

Samba as NT Domain Member via Winbind - After Upgrade users prompted for password for any shares
Hello,
Apparently, I did a stupid thing today. I used apt-get on my
Debian Woody system to upgrade my Samba packages from 3.0.2 to 3.0.6.
Since doing so, all my users are prompted for a password when trying to
access shares. Even just listing the IPC$, Windows XP systems prompt for
user name and password. Windows 98 machines prompt for password. None
are successful. I believe

net join problems
My last install of Samba was 3.2.2 on Solaris 10 Sparc platform. Had no
problems. I'm now trying to install 3.4.0 on Solaris 10 x86 platform.
With 3.2.2 I would join our Windows domain as such:
net join -S servername -w DOMAIN_NAME -U username
All worked fine. Now with 3.4.0 I'm getting usage error trying to do the
same thing. Here is my config:
# ./testparm

Winbind problem w/ ADS domain local group and other-domain members
This one is probably going off into the esoteric side of things, but
Samba/winbind doesn't seem to be working quite as expected in one
particular area -- domain local groups having members from other
trusted domains. I've searched extensively (google and
elsewhere...), and have found little/no mention of this particular
problem: "domain local group" members from other

Sudden unexplained slowness on share (caused by duplicate UID?)
Hi,
We have 5 Samba domain controllers, and 4 file servers. All are
4.2.10-Debian. Our file servers have been working fine until recently
(on the 26th), when suddenly access to the
\\users.store.example.com\user share (hostname p-cats) became extremely
slow.
Access to other shares on other machines is fine, and users is 128G
total (smaller than other shares). The machine isn't under

drop-box permission issues with Mac OSX
I've just upgraded to 3.4.0 Samba on Solaris 10 x86. We have folders
all users home areas called drop-box. Its a folder for other users to
drop files into but cannot access or read what is in the drop-box. On
unix the permissions are set 2733. This works fine with Window clients.
But is not working on Mac OSX clients using either smb or cifs protocols
for mounting the cifs share on the
