Samba3 & ADMT, cannot migrate SIDs
I'm attempting to migrate a Samba 3.x / NT domain to Active Directory. I have a Windows 2003 SE host and ADMT. I've established trusts between the Samba 3 domain and the Windows 2003 AD domain. I can use "User Account Migration Wizard" up to the "Account Transition Options". Then of I check the option to Migrate SIDs it fails with - "Could not verify auditing

Migrating user accounts Samba 3.5.3 to Windows 2003 (2008)
Hi all, I need some help with the following problem: I need to migrate a bunch of user accounts to another domain on a Windows 2003 server (eventually to 2008R2, but that step seemed to big to do in one go). To keep all access rights etc. correct, I need to get the SID history set correctly as well. From what I've researched so far, I'm aware of

Re: Please help me with migration to MS Windows 2003
Replying on list so others may help or benefit... Arne, It's been a while since I've done one of these migrations, but here's a couple of things to try: - Make sure the clients' primary DNS server is an Active Directory Integrated DNS (in a single-DC environment, the DNS is usually the same machine as the W2K3 domain controller) - In the clients' Advanced TCP/IP

_netr_ServerAuthenticate3: netlogon_creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request
I am getting errors in my samba logs like "_netr_ServerAuthenticate3: netlogon_creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request from client XXX machine account XXX$" (Host log:?http://pastebin.com/QXhbngN5). So far, machines do seem to join the domain (Machine account is created in LDAP, user can log in, etc), but I am concerned that when Windows 7 machines reach their 30 days they

Migration of Samba Accounts to Active Directory
Hi there, I run Samba 3.0.7 as an "NT4" PDC with about 30 clients - a mix of W2K and WinXP. My new boss wants to replace this setup with Active Directory, so our Sendmail server can be replaced with an Exchange Server. I'm having a crack at doing this with Windows Server 2003, and following this guide... http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/upgrades.html#id2605434 However,

Of Starcraft 2 and Mice
Hi everyone, I've tried browsing the endless wine faq's,forums, and bug reports and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Anyways, as for my actual issue: Ubuntu 10.10 on 2.6.35-28-generic x86_64 I'm running on the latest public build (1.3.16) (same behaviour in 1.2x) and have a rather annoying problem. Since there are a lot of issues when not running SC2 in a

newbie problem: can't mount win xp disk into linux (regkey is set)
Got two machines connected via a 10MBit Hub: One Slackware Linux 8.1 with eth0 = Realtek8139 (working fine), one WindowsXP Pro, same NIC, registry key for proper auth is set. The Windows machine is called xerxes on which the C dir is shared, and there is /mnt/xerxes/ on the Linux box. The command: # mount -t smbfs -o username=(username on win machine),password=(passwd on win # machine)

Asterisk to switch on electric heaters remotely?
Hello I'm sure someone has already tried this: I use a couple of electric heaters to heat my office. I'd like to somehow connect them to Asterisk so that I could switch them on remotely by either calling the IVR or sending an e-mail to the Asterisk host, so that the room is warm when I get to the office :-) Any information appreciated. Thank you.

Directory listing delay with WinXP and IPtables
Sorry if this has been covered before. I setup a new Samba server using RedHat EL 3, and samba 3.0.2-6.3E (the version that comes with Redhat). We were seeing an intermittant 20 seconcd delay when grabbing a directory listing, but only from XP, win 2k was fine. I couldn't completely nail down when the delay occured but it seemed to be when the directory or share hadn't been accessed

Roaming profiles not being loaded
I tried to build a setup to model and hence learn how to configure samba servers for the setup that I described below. However, a user login in which the profile is defined to be on a samba server that is not the PDC never gets a roaming profile -- instead the user always gets a temporary profile. Looking at the Windows logs, it is complaining about a permissions issue. However, once logged in
