Promoting Samba BDC to PDC
Hi All, Has any one got an idea of how to make clients automatically find the BDC when the PDC is stopped. Both PDC and BDC are running by Samba authenticating again a LDAPSAM backend replicated on both the PDC with master LDAP database and BDC with replicated LDAP database. But when I stop PDC the clients are not detecting the BDC broadcast. I can see that the replication is of

Samba share access error Fedora core 5
Hi, I have samba PDC running successfully on my server with 3 physical volumes running Fedora Core 5. Physical Volume 1 - OS installation Physical Volume 2 - All Company file shares Physical Volume 3 - Backup of files. I am facing a weird problem or may be somewhat unique to samba or Fedora, that I cannot access shares that are mounted and shared by samba

Domain logon problem
Hi All, We are running Samba as a PDC on SUSE 9.3 and everything was running fine since we started it. All of a sudden I have started to have problems with the domain logon, nothing has changed since friday when I know it was working fine without any problems. Group logon Scripts
We're almost at the stage of rolling out our new RH6.1/Samba server - one last item. We have some 60 users and 7 departments. Can I use/how do I use a logon script to log groups onto the server. I currently have 1 logon script per user, but a small change in 1 share means updating every script. Can I log them on by group ID but still map their personal shares with the %U flag so I then

Re: [XenARM] Regarding Xen-ARM for Cortex-A8 on Fast Model Emulators [FME]
Questions about the port of Xen to ARM with virt extensions are best posted to xen-devel, the xen-arm list focuses on the PV port. Adding xen-devel since it seems you are mainly asking about the w/-virt-extensions port. Two PDC's conflict
Hi All, I am currently running two PDC's with different domain names on the same network. But after a day of smooth running I am starting to have problems with the users accessing the network resources with an error message. As far I understand there must not be such conflict with the Samba PDC's with different domain names on the same subnet. Can any one suggest what might

logon scripts by group
Hi, I am having a hard time figuring out how to have logon scripts that only execute if the user is a member of a certain group. I had the smart idea of putting the supplemental logon script in a share only available to the group, and then calling it from the normal logon script using "CALL "path_to_script". However it looks like it always executes that CALL even if the user

different logon scripts and mappings for individual users
i'm not sure how to create different logon scripts for different users. right now i have one logon script called 'logon.bat' that maps all users to a server share and syncs the time with the server. i need to be able to map different users to different server shares. not all users should be mapped to all server shares. these should be automatic mappings. for example: user1 should

S4 Dispatching
Is it possible for S4 to (continue) dispatch to a class created during dispatching? The code below doesn't work; is this not possible or have I ommitted something? Concept was to create a SEXP with R_AllocatePtr, give it a class attribute, and continue dispatch. Example code below omits multiple parameters that can be different types. Essentially, any parameter would be converted to an

root prexec/postexec & login scripts
I have a perl script that I'd like to use to create windows 9x login scripts at login time but I cannot get the process to work right. I have RedHat 7.3 (actually the k12ltsp v2.1.0 which is a modified RH7.3) set up as a domain controller which is working well. Manually created login scripts run fine on the workstations at login. I'm using a netlogon script I found at

domain logons - prevent multiple logins with the same account
hi i'm trying to solve this problem, i've came up with a solution, but i don't think that this is the best availibe method for this problem i read about that samba does provides a 'preexec' call that can prevent a share to be accessed, and i figured out, that with this i can reject access to a share if the user have already logged in from another maschine. and if i wrote the

Re: Samba - root preexec & login scripts
Last night at home, and on a second system today at work, I tried putting in the sample preexec statement contained in the smb.conf man page to check it's effect on the domain logons. Just like the preexec for the perl script it kills domain logons. As that script is right in the smb.conf man page I'd certainly expect that to work. As one final shot at this I'll post my smb.conf for

Logon logging logs
I'm looking for a simple solution to log a single entry for each login to a Samba PDC. My current attempt(s) of using a root prexec script in either the [netlogon] share definition or the [global] section are working, but not exactly as expected. In [netlogon] I have an entry: root preexec = /path/to/script/makelogonscript.pl %g %u %m %I ...where makelogonscript.pl generates a
