"net setlocalsid" question
Hi, I'm a tad confused about something. I've got a production instance of Samba running. I am trying to get a test version running on the same box, with the same SID. Without the test server running, I used "net setlocalSID <oldsid>" (the net binary is the one for the new server). Then when I issued 'net getlocalsid' it returned it. I thought I was fine.

pdbedit - RID for machine accounts
Hi, I've tried to search for the problem on the lists without finding a solution. I'm trying to recreate a crashed PDC system on a new system with samba 3.0.4. It is a small domain and I use tdbsam as a backend. No LDAP (yet ;). I could actually retrieve the old SIDs from a backup file, and also the smb.conf file. All other files was though lost :( I managed to give the new domain (PDC)

Profile troubles with 2.x-3.x upgrade
Hello Samba people, My goal is to upgrade our Samba 2.2.9 PDC to 3.0.6. 2.2.9 was installed from an RPM, but 3.0.6 is compiled from source. No special options except --with-prefix and other location-specific ones. We are using the typical smbpasswd back-end. So I have compiled and installed 3.0.6. I have tweaked the smb.conf to reflect what I believe are the new values for 3.x. The

XP clients cannot login after 3.5 to 3.6 upgrade
Hello, After an upgrade from 3.3 to 3.5, we ran into this bug when we tried using NTLM for authentication: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7481 . To solve this issue, I am now trying to upgrade from the (latest) CentOS 3.5 packages, to the "Enterprise Samba" 3.6 packages from enterprisesamba.org. After upgrading, the SID changed, so I changed it back to the old value.

Fedora packages or Enterprise packages of Samba on RHEL4?
Hello, Can somebody of the Samba team explain me the difference of Fedora packages or Enterprise packages ( <http://enterprisesamba.com/> http://enterprisesamba.com/) of Samba on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4? I tried to find any information about this subject, but googleing doesn't help me. The standard Samba package (3.0.10EL) of RHEL4 doesn't communicate with a W2k3 server

Well, it looks like we are stuck... I can't figure out what to do next. ads_connect: Program lacks support for encryption type here's the whole story: We've been using winbind successfully for over a year now, rhel3 variants(scientific linux 3), some run rhel3's default samba, others use the packages from http://enterprisesamba.com/ we started out using the NT4 compatability

Fedora packages or Enterprise packages of Samba on
Hello List, In regards to RPM packages, what is the difference in the prebuilt ones for example the FC5 RPM's directly from samba.org or obtaining the latest .tar.gz and running ./makerpms.sh for the desired distribution. Does this way optimize for example - x86-64 or SMP ? Cheers, Adrian Sender. -----Original Message----- From: Gerald (Jerry) Carter [mailto:jerry@samba.org] Sent:

Samba 4 AD share: Access denied
I use the sernet binaries as they are very rapid in there releases. http://www.enterprisesamba.com/samba/ Great to have so many distro's supported. Backports or Archlinux is usually a day after a fresh release. Documentation wise things are not good guys. I have been on the samba4 trail for some time now and yeah I know where I am at now. There is a load of confusing almost opposing

Where to get Sernet-Samba4 questions answered?
Not wanting to build Samba4 myself I spent some time searching for rpm packages suitable for use on our CentOS-6.5 hosts. I discovered http://enterprisesamba.com/ which provides rpms (sernet-samba-4.1.4-7) for CentOS-6. However, I cannot find an online support community for this package and requests for help made to the samba.org list have met with absolute silence. Since my requests had to do

Everything works fine, i can join the new domain, i replaced the machine and domain sid from the new server with the old ones. But how can reuse the profiles from the old machine at the new one? Fwd: Installing EnterpriseSamba (Sernet-samba) on Ubuntu
I will add here that my server provisioned yesterday afternoon. However, I did not have time to do any testing. So, this morning testing and the first thing I discovered was "sernet-samba-ad" service was NOT running. I found a Debian Wheezy sernet samba posting (via Google) and within it read that users need to edit "/etc/default/sernet-samba" as follows: # ---- SETUP

upgrading samba 4.1.4 to the latest samba 4 release
You should think about using alternate repositories like from launchpad. The most common repository used seems the one from sernet. You need to register at sernet for this.
