samba group rights problem (Domain Admins not working)
Hi list, after upgrading our ldap server, the Domain Admins group doesn't work anymore. Members of the domain admins group don't have any special rights on the workstations (for example, they cannot even change the date of a machine in the domain anymore). When I lookup the group members I get:

Guaranteed bandwidth per connection
Dear all, I''ve got a working HTB configuration with iptables, fwmark, SFQ etc. At the moment, I can mark traffic and give it a maximum bandwidth and a minimum guaranteed bandwidth, so far so good. What I would like to do is the following: In stead of defining a min/max for a certain type of traffic (e.g. http, ftp whatever), I would like to define a "minimum guaranteed bandwidth

compression
Hi, posted a message to the tinc list few days ago, but seems that there is not that much going on on that list, so I try here. The homepage of tinc says it compresses all traffic, but the manpage says that it only compresses UDP packets. Which one is true? Another thing, how much active development is going on with tinc at the moment? I see that "version 2" is mentioned. Or is there

NT and slow logon
Hi, still got the problem of NT slow logon, what am I doing wrong? This is the situation: Samba running on Unixware 2.1.1, SVR4 and RedHad. Win95 and smbclient in any unix works fine. A win NT machine sees the workgroup, but browsing to it takes a LONG time ( 3 or 4 minutes or so..) and when the machines appear ( redhat, unixware and SVR4 ) it again takes a lot of time to log on, after that

Strange "username map" behaviour with "security=user"
I use Samba 2.2.0 on small network. I use "security = user" and "username map" to map some Win-users to unix users. I have simple testing file with username mapping: root = vlad It is supposed that when I connect to samba as user "Vlad" with vlad's password I get the root's rigths to shares. Right? But when I try to connect to samba as "vlad"

Easy security administration?
Hello. I've got several clients using samba (ranging from 2.2.1a to 2.2.5) as their primary windows server. The question has come up with clients about ease of administration and security rights for samba. Currently, the only way I've been able to show clients how to manipulate security settings and restrict users from certian shares is to use write and read lists per share, or create

Domain Admin group problem
Hi, I've got an interesting problem with my Samba 3.0.2a on Debian Woody. I've created the Domain Admins group as I could read in the documentation, and I added a user to this group called "star". If I login to a Windows 2000 workstation, which is a member of the domain, I can login, but I don't have administrator rights on this workstation. The Domain Admins group is a

How to create but not delete file/dir?
Hi, I want to setup rights so that users can create files/dirs but once they close them they have read-only right for them. I'm using Samba 2.2.2 on XFS but AFAIK XFSs ACL won't help me. One friend told me that he saw once some "well hidden" parameter for Samba which allows this :-) BTW: NT and Novell allows to do this thing ;-) (also is said Solaris) Thanks, Libor
