samba 3.0.22 default ACL issue
Hi,
I use samba 3.0.22 as PDC on Debian with workstations under windows XP
SP1 and SP2.
I use ACLs to have a fine grained access rules.
When I copy a directory from a client to a samba share, default ACLs are
forgiven.
exemple : after I copy the directory A on the samba share :
getfacl A/
# file: A/
# owner: user1
# group: sambausers
user::rwx
group::---
other::---
default:user::rwx

Samba PDC + ACL : default ACLs ignored on directory
Hi all,
I use Debian Sarge and Samba 3.0.22 with ACLs. The server is a PDC. I
have about 70 clients workstation running both Windows XP SP1 and SP2.
All works pretty good, all but the directory copy, wich forget ACLs in a
particular case :
When a client copy a local directory on a samba share, the defaults ACLs
aren't applied. But this problem comes only when the client local

CentOS samba MS Word corruption
We're using CentOS samba for about 20 workstations, mostly XP, some 2000 and
two win98. Samba shares a data directory with Word, Excel and Access
documents/db's. Also Exact for Dos is running from this share (executable and
data).
The users experience a long delay every morning opening the first Word
document (Word 97, Word 2000). This could take 10 minutes or so. If they

Samba mounted home shares will break many applications
I didn't get any responses to my previous post "Wine broken on Samba
shares due to colon ":" filenames" so I am re-posting with a subject to
reflect what I now believe to the the root cause of my problems.
I recently changed from mounting my home directory using NFS to mounting
with CIFS via the pam module pam_mount.so. It turns out that I am having
problems with many

ntp will not drift to correct time
Hi
On 5.3 i have a situation where some boxes have been 3 or 4 seconds out
and restarting ntpd has fixed the issue.
What i dont understand is why the clocks did not drift to the correct
time when the config seems correct in that restarting ntp did correct
the time.
Is there something 'special' i need to do in order for the drift to work?
$ cat /etc/ntp.conf

Unable to add computer to domain
I have an OpenLDAP backend, Samba knows how to talk to it, my Samba users
are stored in LDAP and file shares work fine authenticating to the LDAP

I tried executing smbldap-useradd -w server02 on the command-line and got

Multiple homedir entries in smb.conf ?
Hi list,
is it possible to add multiple homedir templates to smb.conf ?
I have a running linuxsystem where homefilesets are mounted
from different windows-servers to subdirs like:
/home/server01/home/USERNAME
/home/server02/home/USERNAME
/home/server03/home/USERNAME
The users come via winbind. In the smb.conf the entry for the
homedir:
template homedir = /home/%U
So how is it possible to

UNC windows path beginning with backslashes: normalizePath bug??
Hi,
Back in June I posted the message below, but had no replies. I've made a
little progress since then so this is to update anyone interested (!) and to
ask for comments.
Brief problem statement:
Under Windows, some parts of R don't handle UNC paths beginning with
backslashes. Specifically
a) Sys.glob() fails to find some files breaking (e.g.) Rcmdr plugins
