Cannot copy back profile
Hi! I have a problem with roaming profiles which I don't understand.
I can login and logout from XP with a samba PDC with ldapsam
flawlessly, but for some reasons when the profile does not
belong to the user itself windows tells me upon logout that it cannot
copy back some files to the server. Weird, because the directory
where the profile resides is readable and writable by the user,

EMERGENCY: User profile for Win98 domain logon lost after upgrade to Oct 5 CVS code
Hello all,
I'm in very big big trouble here. In an attempt to enable domain logon for
NT workstations as well, I fetched the CVS code
on Oct 5, 98. I successful built it with no error. I copied the smb.conf
from a workable Sambav1.9.18p8 to the Samba2.0alpha.
Then I started the smbd and nmbd of Samba2.0alpha. I rebooted one of the
Windows 98 (which used to be working happily

Kerberos and Samba
Hi.
I've built an afs cell, a kerberos kdc, an openldap server, all
kerberized. Now all linux clients can login on the cell using k5
authentication, finding informations about their home dirs with ldap.
Their home reside on the afs cell, which allows r/w access since it
releases a token from the k5 ticket. All macosx clients can login as
well... but what about windows? ^___^;;;

Custom Hidden Files?
Hi.
A question on a feature that interests me... Can I specify samba to
handle the dot files in our linux samba server as hidden files in
windows? It's quite ugly seeing all the hidden unix files .* visible on
windows...

Redundancy in samba
Hi.
I'm new to samba, so I don't know many things. I have a big
infrastructure based on kerberos, ldap and afs. All our linux clients
log nicely on the cell, no problem. The problem is as everywhere...
windows. I'm trying to make windows log on the cell, using samba (I will
try tomorrow to set up a domain). The questions about samba will come
later on, so expect me to bother you :)

[LLVMdev] Building on LLVM on OSX: invalid install?
Dear all,
I am trying to move a project from Linux to OSX, with bad results at my
first attempt. First, I am using LLVM 3.2, the latest version, compiled
from sources (configured with just the install prefix, vanilla for other
options).
By the way, I found it annoying to reinstall LLVM, I expected a complete
and working LLVM environment with Apple's move to CLANG, but maybe I
didn't

number of groups of NT account causes authentication problems
I am facing a strange problem related to authentication of NT users
accessing the SAMBA server.
Here are the details:

Ongoing Samba Errors
Greetings
We just updated two RH9 servers to 3.0.14a-1 and are still seeing a lot
of errors in the logs.
They're not stopping us working but I would _really_ like to understand
what is causing them.
On the first server, in the logwatch, we get a whole swag of:
samba:
Unknown Entries:

(PR#1289)
Dear all,
I've found a bug report for R when installing it on an AIX5.1 system.
There's a followup (number 4) that comments a segmentation fault on R
when quitting "q()".
I'm using a newer version of R but on the same operating system and
I obtain the same error.
There was a way to solve this problem?
Best regards and thanks,

getent group returns only few groups on solaris
Hi All,
I was able to get 'winbind' configured on my Solaris-9 system and
authenticate Windows domain users, but I have three problems:
Server OS; Solaris 9, MU2
SAmba version: 2.2.7 (also tried 2.2.8prel , but same problem)
Tried 'winbind enum users/groups' both true and false
Client OS: Windows XP, WinNT4.0

Is it feasable?
Hi.
I'm trying to find a solution for our windows clients. I will explain my
situation.
We have kerberos 5 (mit) kdc, openafs without kaserver (authentication
using kerberos), openldap, everything on debian stable servers. What do
our unix/linux clients do? They authenticate over kerberos (pam), gain
tickets and consequently gain the afs token (krb5afs or
openafs_session), call ldap and

configuration needed to load roaming profiles off of a BDC?
I have a PDC named GOMER with IP 10.8.3.37 and a BDC named BLDG1 with IP
10.8.3.231, both in the domain ADAMSTEST. I have a user testuser who
logged in successfully to GOMER and has a roaming profile in
/var/lib/samba/profiles/testuser. So I changed the TCP/IP settings of
the windows XP computer testuser uses from the WINS server of 10.8.3.37
to 10.8.3.231 so it would use BLDG1 for

Roaming profils cannot sync four files
Hai,
Hai,
Yes, thats correct that you see that.
2 things here.
You missed something on this page : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_POSIX_ACLs
And try this settting in [global] of smb.conf : acl allow execute always = yes
But why copy : C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Local
Thats normaly not copied in the user profiles only C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Roaming

Roaming profils cannot sync four files
Hello,
I'm using a WIndows Server 2016 as a DC and Samba 4.5 (Debian Stretch) as a
fileserver. The fileserver is made with Windows ACLs (exactly like the
Samba tutorial).
The Windows 10 Client cannot copy these 4 files:
C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UPPS\UPPS.bin ->
UNC\FS\profiles\testuser.V6\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UPPS\UPPS.bin

Hints about large network!
Hi.
In few weeks I'm planning to set up a windows network over our
departmental net. I need some advices, suggestions about what you
would do. We're in front of a large network. I'm expecting having 50+
+ computers logging in the windows domain, many different users.
Servers will be just unix (linux mainly, and aix/bsd for experiments
only)
The underlying structure is really

NT PDC problems...
Hello everyone.
I've got Samba version 2.2.2 running on Sparc Solaris 8 installed the
sunfreeware.com package. I've configured the machine to be a PDC for a small
windows NT 4 domain. My smb.conf file is below. When logging on from a
workstation sometimes the login works fine, but most times I get an error saying
the domain controller can't be found. When that happens I also get

Samba pwd in kerberos?
Hi. As I said... I will bother you. :)
I'm wondering if it's possible to make samba as a primary domain
controller without having samba passwords, but instead using my two KDCs
(MIT K5).
Is it possible? What should I use in my smb.conf? The wonderful and less
painful thing is samba authenticating via pam... but I don't know how...
the documentation is quite misty.

problem with samba PDC and Windows 7 loading roaming profiles
Since years I have a Suse Samba PDC running with Win2000 and WinXP clients.
Now I tried to add 2 Win7 clients and I'm having a problem. Win7 don't
load my
roaming profiles, Win7 always logged in to a domain user using a
temporary profile.
First I upgrades to Samba 3.4.2 (Suse 11.2), than I set the registry
entries according
