3.0.24 smbclient and printer listing
I'm using 3.0.24 with patches from http://us4.samba.org/samba/patches/. On my XP client the print services for Unix are installed, I shared the local printer named 'jet' on the XP client to all users and the connecting user is an existing user on linux (system and samba user) and XP. I cannot execute the dir command in smbclient for this printer: deveis # smbclient -Utb%password

Question about tdb files
Hi list I'm running a samba 3.0.24 with an ldap backend and as a print server. The server is also serving printer drivers for my Windows clients. If more information is needed please let me know. I have a question about tdb files. Some of my tdb files haven't been touched since my installation in december 2005 and I'm thinking if this is something I should consider critical or not.

Changing password from Windows
Hello, I have a working samba (2.0.7) server (Debian GNU/Linux 2.2) configured with security = user, but NOT domain. The clients are Windows 98. I whish windows users to be able to change their password without logging on the server (unix account on the server are disabled). I tried from the Password applet of the Control Panel, but I was able only to change the password stored on the Windows

Samba 3 tdb's
Which samba 3 tdb's are safe to have smb regenerate on startup? I know in Samba 2 you can remove everything except winbindd_idmap, share_info, and the nt* tdb's. Is it the same for samba3? Reason I asked is I just had a pretty bad failure on 3.0.1pre3 that started with bad magic errors in connections.tdb, after a few hours grew into sessionid.tdb, and finally winbind problems (though no

net rpc rights
Hello everybody, I'm going to update samba on a production server very soon because i'm interested by the net rpc commands (especially net rpc rights) but i'm wondering where the user privileges are stored. I'm currently using an openldap server to authenticate the users and store their profiles. I've updated samba on a test server, have given specific privileges to some users

Users Privileges
Hi all, I'm trying to understand the user privileges implementation, and i've stumbled in to a question. My scenario. Samba + LDAP in central office acting as PDC 8 Samba + LDAP(replica) servers in 8 offices over a WAN acting as BDC's. Every office has a local Sysadmin. Also there are some technical guys who can add machines to the domain. If I understood well, the technical guys

samba3.0+pdc+ldap adding machines to domain
Has anyone had any luck adding machine accounts from w2k to a samba 3.0 pdc? I posted the issue last week, as I noticed others were encountering the same problem. The weird thing is I had it working on a box before. But this time I'm using pam_ldap to avoid local unix accounts, and it wont work. I copied the config over from the box that was working, made changes for the different config

Problems with Samba Authentication (samba.i386 0:3.0.24-4.fc6 or 3.0.25rc1)
Hi folks, Be gentle - first time I've posted to this list! ;-) I'll try and be complete. If I missed something, please let me know. I've googled and found some information, but nothing *quite* relevant. Running Fedora Core 6. Been using Samba for a long time, it's always been problem free. Since the Fedora upgrade to 3.0.24-4.fc6 (I know this is something specific to

Samba 3.0.9 not authenticating completely
I'm relatively new to samba I have been experimenting for a week or so, though I have setup several 2000/NT domains and have been using Linux for a couple of years. I'm using Red Hat 9, updated completely via apt. Samba 3.0.9 installed from apt and i am using the stock ldap server that installed with red hat as my back end. I followed the samba.idealx.org guide to get to where I am
