Gerald, hi. Thanks for the quick reply, I apparently missed it, so thanks for the archives too! How do I get a level 10 debug log? I'm not totally familiar with samba yet, so I'm not sure about how to do that, but once I receive your reply, I will be more than happy to send it. Thanks again, as well as in advance! CD-ROM not recognized
Howdy Folks, I'm trying to run Cryo's Arthur's Knights under wine. I've managed to install using setup.exe, but when I go to play the game, I get an error message telling me to insert CD #1, even though CD #1 is in the CD-ROM tray and mounted. Any clues as to why I would be getting this message, how to convince the game that the CD is actually in the CD-ROM drive, or how to

Smbd & nmbd both refuse to start?
Hello all - I'm getting a weird error message on a custom system I'm trying to setup using SAMBA. The box is running a slightly modified 2.0.37 linux kernel to run the entire OS out of a huge (128 MB) ramdrive. This particular box will be running for years before anything should fail in it. Anyhow everything works fine so far, except neither smbd or nmbd will start with the following

smbcontrol smbd ping also answered by nmbd and winbindd
Hello, with samba-3.0.x an "smbcontrol smbd ping" was answered by all running smbd processes. With samba-3.2.x it is now *also* answered by nmbd and winbindd: [root@cs00 ~]# smbcontrol -V Version 3.2.5 [root@cs00 ~]# for i in `smbcontrol -t 1 winbindd ping | grep PONG | awk '{ print $4}'` ; do pstree -p | grep $i ; done winbindd(29908) - winbindd(29909) [root@cs00 ~]#

ACD Labs 12.0 installs fine, runs fine for the first time
Hi there, I am a relative Linux newbie and due to my work I use ACD Labs 12.0. This is a free for academia NMR processing software available only for windows. I am running it through a Virtual XP machine but I wanted to see if it would run using Wine. The program installed fine, and when I started it for the first time everything was swell. At last I could run pretty much everything I need from

ogg vorbis runs fine on the Plan 9 OS
Just to let you know. I compiled it using the Plan 9 `ansi/posix emulation environment' (ape), and it sounds great. BTW, one question, my Ipaq has serious problems trying to run the decoder_example locally (has an ARM with no FPU). Any suggestion so I could run the decoder inside the Ipaq? Any of you know how to encode at a lower bit rate, I tried `32' but it keeps insisting on 11X.?

Steam installs and runs fine on POL, but not Wine ?
Hey guys, Can anyone help me close the gap between my POL and Wine setups? I currently have a laptop running PlayOnLinux 3.8.8 and a desktop running only Wine 1.3.9 (Fedora 14). As the subject read, the laptop with POL is running fine, but a generic install with the latest .msi file from the Steam website is not. Steam on Wine, was able to run it's own autoupdate, but after that refuses

PTgui.exe runs fine on one Kubuntu 6.0.6 pc but not on the other
Hi all, I'm trying to run ptgui.exe on my kubuntu box. I'm already trying for about 3-4 months. (Actually I also tried it about 1,5 years ago.) I'm running wine version 0.9.20, but my problem already goes back to 0.9.13 or so. When I couldn't get ptgui to run on my laptop, I installed the base X packages and wine also on my server. My server (also) runs ubuntu 6.06 with all

Re: wine overstepping the mark?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 The running of wine programs is not controlled by the mimetype but by a feature of the linux kernel. In /etc/init.d you might find a init script called wine. This script uses the kernel modules binfmt_misc to tell the linux kernel that when it encounters a file being executed with a special byte in the header to call it with wine. You can disable
