winbind trust account password management
I'm running Samba v4.4.4 as a domain member server in security=domain mode. Our 3 domain controllers are Server 2012r2. Every 3-4 days, I see log messages from winbind saying "winbind_samlogon_retry_loop: sam_logon returned ACCESS_DENIED". Sometimes this corresponds to a trust password change, but not always. Today, new connections to Samba were failing with the error

XP SP1 Clients wont print to Samba / Cups Server
Hi All, I have gained my basic Linux / Samba knowledge from using SME server (www.contribs.org) More recently I have started to use Trustix Linux to build servers for specific things for example as a print server. I installed Trustix and the most recent Cups/Samba rpm's from the repository (I am pretty sure they are the latest stable releases) but I can check version numbers if this helps.

Shared printing between Linux (client) and Windows (server): NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Thank you for answer. Logged in as Guest, then went to Security tab. I see `Everyone', it is given all permissions. Then I went to `Current permissions' tab (I have localized OS at the moment, so probably it is not correct name) and typed in `Everyone' and `Guest' as well: all five permission types are checked. $ smbclient -L 192.168.0.100 -m SMB2     Sharename

SeDiskOperatorPrivilege and 2012 R2 domain
Tim, Thanks for the hint. Usermap for root applied, locally made requests fail now systematically with "Could not connect to server <server address> Connection failed: NT_STATUS_LOCK_NOT_GRANTED" It is kind of improvement :) Random things scare me. -Tom On Tue, Mar 24, 2015 at 7:40 PM, Tim <lists at kiuni.de> wrote: > Hi Tom, > > have a look at this: >

SeDiskOperatorPrivilege and 2012 R2 domain
(Re-posting to list also.. Sorry forgot Cc. -Tom) Marc, Thanks for your help and clarifications. I was indeed addressing the domain controller (2012 R2) due to my misunderstanding. Addressing the request at the file server (Samba 4) to the file server fails too but with different errors. Rights list succeeds. $ net rpc rights list accounts -UDOMAIN\\Administrator Enter

Bad Password
Everyone, I am going nuts trying to figure this problem out. I have successfully joined a SUSE 10 server to our domain and configured samba for ADS authentication. This exact setup works on all my other servers. On this one, I keep getting access denied when entering my domain password despite the fact that I have tried it literally dozens of times. I am 100% confident I am

Winbind - Why won't you authenticate???
Well, I managed to get Samba 2.2.3 up and running on our Solaris 8 machine. I installed with the winbind option and everything went though just find. I was able to join the NT domain and now I can do a wbinfo -u "and get a domain user list as well as a "wbinfo -g and get a group list. For some reason though, the authentication isn't working. I tried to "wbinfo -a" and

OT: Is "Samba" an acronym?
http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/SambaIntro.html Through his E'mail contacts, Andrew discovered that NetBIOS and SMB were actually (though nominally) documented. With this new information at his fingertips he set to work again, but soon ran into another problem. He was contacted by a company claiming trademark on the name that he had chosen for his server software. Rather than cause a fuss,

lsaenumacctwithrights
Hi, I've installed the samba 3.0.11 release after building it from source. I'm trying to use rpcclient to enumerate all accounts with a specific right. The man page for rpcclient says the 'lsaenumacctwithrights' command is available but when I try to use the command rpcclient doesn't recognise it. A quick grep of the source base shows that the command isn't

Multiple winbindd processes
Hi, My problem is that I'd like to have one GNU/Linux box with Samba installed serve multiple domains. I have 2 Domains separated from each other. Connected Samba box to both domains and joined them successfully. Running 2 smbd and 2 nmbd processes bound to the appropreate network interface, with different settings serving appropreate domans. Samba server is visible in both networks but

Problem with ACL plugin system
Don''t know if anyone else has experienced this but I''m having a problem with the access_denied method in Ezra''s ACL access control plugin. Unable to get virtual users set up with database auth
I can't seem to get imap virtual users to work with database authentication on new Scientific Linux 6.5 server with Sendmail 8.14.4 & Dovecot 2.0.9 Apparently I have to also create system users because sendmail/procmail/dovecot want to check directory ownership. So I created a database, made entry for the user, created the user chayes on the system. But %u always contains just chayes
