any 64-bit mini-itx successes
Is there anyone who has successfully put together a "high-powered" mini-itx ZFS box that would be willing to post their system specs?

A400P + Intel D201GLY2(A) motherboard?
Hello
I'd like to build myself an Asterisk server for SOHO use. Intel's
D201GLY2 motherboard (http://tinyurl.com/ddarzp) looks like a very
good deal, but I'm concerned about two things:
1. Will an A400P (from OpenVox, but supposed to be Digium-compatible
http://tinyurl.com/ck6nfu) fit with a PCI riser, or will the CPU
heatsink/fan be in the way? I downloaded the PDF from

Installing Centos 5 on one system and moving the HD to another....
I have a bug report in (0002288) on an install failure on my decTOPs
(Centos 4.5 installed on them).
I have tried a lot of combinations and it is getting tiring.
What what happen, or rather how do I get the following to work:
Put my HD into a computer (Compaq SSF that I have installed Centos 5 on
with no trouble), install Centos 5, move the HD to the decTOP.
Different Video card.
No PS/2

Firewall frustration
Well FWbuilder is NOT easy. The documentation does not match the
current GUI. Now the box is locked up. I will have to pull it again,
hook it up to a kybd/VGA and reset iptables....
Maybe Shoreline with webmin....
Problem is I want a REAL router/firewall with little work. Both public
and private nets have routable addresses. No NATing for me! I just
help write the RFC ;) And all the

Kernel panic from install CD
I have a bunch of DecTOPs. Use the AMD Geode chip.
Yesterday I upgraded one of them, and got the dreaded Kernel panic.
Something about powernowk8. I could boot up with the old kernel, though.
I know I have to put in a bug report on this, will do shortly, but first
wanted to try a fresh install on another DecTOP. At the prompt, I
specified: linux askmethod
After it loaded the kernel, it

What is eating my memory?
The tail of two systems and one hard drive.
I install centos 5 on a HD while it is in a Compaq with 256Mb memory.
After install, i am in graphics mode (Gnome) and top reports not quite
all 256Mb used.
Then I move the HD to a decTOP with 512Mb memory. I am running
non-graphics (init 3). I ssh into the unit and top reports not quite
all of that used.....
So what ate up more than 256Mb

Back to my Xwindows kernel panic
I have a newly built drive with 5.2 fresh install (that I will be
cloning shortly) in my DECtop and it is failing with X the same way the
upgrade from 5.1 drive did (not too supprising there).
In 5.1 X worked. I could startx from init 3 and get into GNOME. Also
VNC into the box and have a GNOME screen. With 5.2, I get a kernel
panic. Well I guess it is a kernel panic because once I run

RHEL / Mini-ITX
Hi Everyone,
I'd be grateful if anyone can help with a couple of queries I have.
Recently I downloaded Centos 3.3 and cannot get it to install I my system.
The system I am using to install is a based on an original EPIA Mini-ITX
m/board. At a certain point in installing it comes up with an error saying
something like "system not supported". Can anyone advise if they have got

CentOS 4.4 on mini-itx
Hi,
I have a EPIA mini-itx board that I have been running Fedora 4 on. I want to
install CentOS 4.4 on it since FC4 is no longer supported. The install goes fine
but when I reboot the machine after the install I get errors like the following:
hda:<4>hda: dma_timer_Expiry : dma status == 0x21
There are other errors about not being able to access the disk and eventually
the kernel panics.

Sound Problem with * on VIA mini-itx M10K AC97' VT8235 chipset
I've got Asterisk up and running on a VIA mini-itx M10K with a TDM-400 card
but I'm having a terrible time with the sound setup. I tried RH9 and Debian
distributions, with 2.4.18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 kernels. I've used the VIA
drivers, ALSA drivers, OSS drivers and Kernel drivers with varying results.
I can setup the audio to work with a few different applications, 2 channels

mini-ITX suggestions
Does anyone have recommendations for (or against) mini-ITX platforms to
be used with Wildcard X100P and TDM400P cards?
I am considering the use of systems using VIA EPIA CL and Epia M as
small, quiet platforms on which to host Asterisk.

Centos on a Flash drive and Micro drive
I am considering putting together a 'micro server' that I can easily
travel with. I am seriously considering the decTOP, as at $99 (plus the
cost of a 256MB SIMM) is amazingly priced.
But I want to run on batteries, so trash a real hard drive. I have a
couple of IDE to Compact flash adapters that support 2 flash cards. So
I was considering a 4Gb (or even 2Gb) cheap real fash card

OT: VIA Mini-ITX, Asterisk, and hardware
Hello everyone,
Does anyone out there have actual experience with running * on a
mini-itx board from VIA? They look good, but I have some reserves
because of VIA's problems with PCI latency in recent years (audio
dropouts, wierd things happening). I am looking at the EPIA CL-10000.
For $270, I can get a CL-10000 (1ghz C3, dual ethernets, etc), 256mb
RAM, and a nice small (12 x 2 x 11)

[memdisk] remote booting diskless Mini-ITX system
Hi,
As the subject suggests, I am trying to remote boot a Mini-ITX system.
I am using PXELinux as the bootloader,
and Memdisk (2.11) as the 'kernel'. My ramdisk image is a hard drive
image based on PC-DOS.
Two things go wrong during the boot process.
1. "INT 13 08: Failure, assuming this is the only drive" message
2. "Loading boot sector... booting..." message,
