Preexec on Profiles
I'm trying to get a preexec line to work on Profiles when a windows XP system logs in. The line and script are the same as we used to use on the "homes" share with WIndows 98 clients on samba 2. However I cannot seem to make the preexec line trigger either on login or by explicitly mounting the share. Here's the bit from my smb.conf [Profiles] path = /var/samba/profiles

Samba 3.0.8 breaks all printing from Windows 98
We have small panic here as we've just put samba 3.0.8 up to fix the DoS attack but all printing from Windows 98 has now broken. Printing from Windows XP is still working fine. We're running on Fedora 2 using LPRng. Everything was working fine under 3.0.7 and no changes to the OS or the config files was made. Samba was upgraded to 3.0.8 using the configure line from the 3.0.7

PATCH: Performance improvement for parameterised include path names
I posted last week regarding a bug in the way that smb was re-reading our config files every 60 seconds even though the files were not changing. As a result we had 396 smbd processes trying to read three files at the same moment with the obvious load average. The reason that all the smbd's were running at the same moment is because the smbd's read the config files every 60 seconds

Major samba load caused by re-reading of the configuration file
We're running samba-2.2.3a-6 from the redhat 7.3 distribution. Periodically we see a massive load on our server which then quickly goes away. I've spent some time trying to diagnose where the problem is and it appears to be caused by every smb process on the machine (all 360 of them) re-reading the config file at the same moment. THe problem is I cannot see why this should happen and

Assertion failed
We're in a bit of a panic here as we're getting a lot of errors along the lines of: May 2 12:39:00 lenny dovecot: IMAP(XXXXX): file mbox-sync-rewrite.c: line 106 (mbox_sync_headers_add_space): assertion failed: (start_pos < data_size) We didn't see this until our mail servers went under a full load and now we've trashed the ability of nearly all our users to read email.

CentOS 7 debuginfo repo
Hi I've just been looking for the debuginfo packages for CentOS 7 (I'm using systap in an attempt to judge the performance of some new tape drives), but upon enabling the debug repo, I just get a 404 looking for the repo's metadata. Any clues on where I might be able to get these packages? Thanks -- Martin Goldstone IT Systems Administrator - Finance & IT Keele University,

Replication issue
Before digging into the whole stack of what composed an AD, I would try to replace this second DC (the one you called SDC). When joining a DC to a Samba AD domain,if this DC was already decalred as DC, Samba first demote that DC to then start a the whole process to join that DC to the domain. And that whole process includes re-creation of the AD database locally with full synchronisation. Not

Remote share
Hi I have got Samba 3.0.20 installed on two AIX servers, one running 5.2 and one running 5.3. I only get a core dump when manipulating users on the 5.3 machine ? The code install is actually an exact copy that I tarred up and transferred over. I actually seem to get a lot of errors on the 5.3 server that I don't on the 5.2. Any ideas ? My other, and main problem, is setting up a remote open

SSH 5.8p1 hang in kernel mode / AIX 7.1
Hello, An AIX machine runs a program that forks ssh client in order to launch commands on a remote. I'm first seting up a Master connection with a ControlPath, then using that connection to launch various commands on the remote, and killing the master by issuing a "-O exit" command. SSH client version on that machine is : # ssh -V OpenSSH_5.8p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8r 8 Feb 2011 #

upgraded to 3.6.2
Hi Folks, I have upgraded my very stock Ubuntu 8.04.4 running 3.0.28a to 3.6.2 by compiling in place as per these notes: http://www.jeremycole.com/blog/2009/12/01/upgrade-samba-3-0-28a-to-3-4-3-on-ubuntu-8-04-lts/ Worked a treat - big respect to the team. However, I am struggling a little with group mapping net groupmap list used to show the half dozen or so groups but now it doesn't

Debian asterisk-bristuff
I apologise now if I have managed to completely misunderstand this whole subject! I've built a small PC and loaded Etch 4.0 from the netinst cd. I did 'apt-get install asterisk-bristuff' which seemed to work but, it doesn't seem to have installed any files/modules for zaptel? ztcfg zaptel zaphfc I am using a billion hfc card Any pointers? -- Simon Faulkner 01538 303 900

UK Samba Consultant Required
Hi All, I would like to migrate a 10 user NT4 Domain to a new Samba server. I have had a practice run but am struggling to make the (mostly) XP machines login to the new server without creating a new profile. I am sure that I migrated the SID but obviously I didn't get something right! Are there any consultants out there who might be able to help me through this process and teach me a

Replication issue
Greetings, I inherited a samba based domain at my work with two domain controllers running Zentyal 3.4.8 with samba version 4.1.6-Zentyal. I don't know if it's modified by the Zentyal team but they don't support this version anymore, that's why I'm writing to this list. The previos sysadmin told me that replication stopped working a while back, but only in one direction. PDC
