'force create mode' not working when 'unix extensions = yes'
The parameters 'force create mode' and 'force directory mode' have no effect when the option 'unix extensions' is active. The documentation does not report any interaction between the unix extensions and the forced modes, so I'm assuming it's a bug.I'd like to know if it is a known bug ?Has it been solved, if so in which version ? My server runs Debian lenny,

rsync problem with smb/ncpfs filesystem?
I'm trying to rsync a smb filesystem to a novell netware filesystem. Both file systems are mounted on a debian woody system (from root). On both file systems the rsync process has "root" file system rights. But trying to rsync a file with a read only flag like -r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 3441648 Jan 20 1998 WEBCLIENT.EXE to the novell filesystem gives this error: rename

Since the update XSA-36 (also part of the latest debian wheezy pkg), the IO-Virtualisation does not work any more as discussed on this mailinglist [0] and [1]. I like to ask, if there is an "official" solution in sight. I''m not sure about my alternatives. How "dangerous" is the

Problem Seeing Linux Machine From Windows Machine
I am very new to Samba, so please excuse this naive question. Samba seems to be working properly from my Red Hat 7.2 system. I am using a GUI called xSMBrowser, and am able to transfer files back and forth to the Windows machines on my network. I now want to access my Linux system from a Windows 98 machine. I can see it ('Mail') in 'My Network Places' within the workgroup

Hello, I have a debian etch with (samba 3.5.6-27,) shares and windows 7 in the domain. This works ok. Since i installed the new version 3.6.16-31 I can not login with domain users in my windows client and the shares are inaccessible. I solved the problem with the login, removing the following line in my smb.conf: *ldapsam:trusted = yes* but why this line works with the version 3.5.6-27 and not

Print speed with an HP Laserjet 4
I've also posted this message to the lprng list, but as I'm currently not sure where the problem lies, I'm posting it here too in the hope that someone has a clue..... I have recently installed a printer accounting system on my systems, and changed the print model for some of my users.
