Issues after upgrade to 3.0.6 from 3.0.4; fixed in 3.0.7?
Hello, I run samba 3.0.4 on a RHL9 server. Samba is a domain member of a W2k3 ADS and I use CUPS as printing mechanism; therefore Samba is compiled with Kerberos 1.3.1-7 and cups-devel. 3.0.4 runs pretty good, printing via CUPS runs well too, only the following messages I see constantly (this flooding my logs) while using 3.0.4: winbindd.log ========= [2004/07/27 16:07:04, 1]

"user 'root' does not exist" in winbindd.log after upgrade from 3.0.2a to 3.0.3
Dear list, After the upgrade from 3.0.2a to 3.0.3 I see in my winbindd.log file all the time "user 'root' does not exist" messages. I didn't get these messages with my 3.0.2a samba setup, but after the upgrade to 3.0.3 it is flooding my winbindd.log file, sometimes I get this message every minute in my log file. winbindd.log ========== [2004/05/10 00:01:00, 1]

ADS server fallback
Dear list, I have a question about ADS server fallback of a Samba domain member in a W2k3 environment. I describe now a little our real production ADS environment; Madrid: two W2k3 ADS servers (ADM01 and ADM02) in a cluster; both are a global catalog servers in the XXXX.COM realm. Berlin; one W2k3 ADS server (ADM03); is also a global catalog server in the XXXX.COM realm. The ADS servers in

PANIC: internal error; winbind daemon (3.0.4) crashes
Hello, I'm using samba 3.0.4, compiled with Kerberos 1.3.1-7, in an W2k3 ADS environment and Kerberos and the Winbind daemon are used for authentication. While checking a winbindd.log file I saw the following PANIC internal error: winbindd.log ========= [2004/07/21 12:15:00, 1] nsswitch/winbindd_group.c:winbindd_getgroups(1032) user 'root' does not exist [2004/07/21 12:15:00, 1]

Samba as W2k3 AD domain member; how to configure domain controller failover?
Dear list, I have a question how you configure Samba (configured as a W2k3 domain member) to failover to a secondary AD domain controller when the connection to the primary domain controller fails. First some info: - Windows 2003 Active directory (native mode), currently running with 2 domain controllers. - Samba (version 3.0.9) running on a RHL9 server (updated with kerberos 1.3.1-7),

Serious bug in Samba 3.0.2pre1 !!!
Summarization of the bug in Samba 3.0.2pre1: It seems that an ADS group is not valid or detected anymore to access a samba share, in case only an ADS group is used a valid user on a Samba share, because Kerberos is reporting: Username (null) is invalid on this system. Besides that, connecting to a share (service) reports with Samba 3.0.0-2 REALM\username (NH-TEST.NL\fo6), but with Samba 3.0.2pre1

Prevent drag and drop within Samba shares
Hello, Is there a parameter in smb.conf that prevent users to use drag and drop within Samba shares? I know this is a Winedow$ function, but some users (hum, hum) use Explorer to open their files and accidentally they drag and drop sometimes a directory in the root of the share to another directory in the root of the share. My samba server is member of a native W2k3 server Active Directory

printer permissions <-> ERROR: NULL dest in safe_strcpy (samba 3.0.0)
Hi Jerry et al, I'm using SAMBA 3.0.0 on Solaris 9, it looks very cute, unfortunately I can not set the permissions on the printers (I can as an admin add a user etc. but all changes are lost after applying):-( Is this somehow related to the error entries in the log file: [2003/11/17 14:45:31, 0] lib/util_str.c:safe_strcpy_fn(577) ERROR: NULL dest in safe_strcpy If so will it be fixed in

Samba Print "ERROR: NULL dest in safe_strcpy"
I'm new to SAMBA and to Linux. Am trying to replace windows file and print servers with RedHat9. I set up the server and installed Samba 3.0.0. I had everything running fine for two weeks(file and print sharing). Yesterday I must have tweaked something, because now I cannot print! I can connect to the printer via Network Neighborhood, but print jobs do not make it to the printer. I still

safe_strcpy problem in Samba 3.0.10
Hi! We have a lot of logfiles showing "zfl04.log.3: ERROR: string overflow by 1 (24 - 23) in safe_strcpy [organisation#rektorat#vrlehre#qe-eval]" I found a reported bug producing this output within older Samba versions than 3.0.4 . But we use version 3.0.10 and no mangling method set within smb.conf . Therefore it should be the defaultvalue hash2 which doesn't have this flaw.
