You must supply a password to make this connection - IPC$
Hi Folks, Just installed Samba 2.2.10 on my FreeBSD 4.9 computer. I can see the FreeBSD box on all of my Win 9x boxes, but when I double click on its icon, I get a rude box message that says something like: ==================================================== You must supply a password to make this connection Resource: \\SAMMY\IPC$ ====================================================

Logon Script to go down one folder?
Hi Folks, Got Samba 3.0.7,1 running on FreeBSD--yippee! One thing that I noticed is that when a Windows user clicks on his folder named something like 'username', there are a bunch of files there that he might 'accidently' delete: .cshrc .login .login_conf .mail_aliases .mailrc .profile .rhosts .shrc Is there some way to automatically log on the user to folder just below

FreeBSD + winbindd + PAM
I've been trying for a couple of weeks to get FreeBSD + winbindd + PAM working, without success. I'm hoping that someone here has bumped into my problem before and has some advice to give. My current setup is winbindd from Samba 2.8.8a on both FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE and 5.1-BETA. I've configured Samba with the following options: syslog, nocups, utmp, msdfs, quota, recycle, audit,

[airween@gmail.com: DC's are still unavailable when PDC halted]
Hi folks, sorry for the re-post, I need some help to solve this problem. Since my previous e-mail, we made a set-up: there is a Clear Pass device (Aruba), which controlls the network access for users. Between the CP and these two DC's there is a load balancer. But, when we stopped the DC1, which was set up first, and the DC2 works continously, then the authentication of users is stopped

IPFW compiled in kernel: Where is it reading the config?
Hi peeps, After compiling ipfw into the new 6.2 kernel, and typing "ipfw list", all I get is: "65535 deny ip from any to any" From reading the docs, this might indicate that this is the default rule. (I am certainly protected this way--but can't be very productive ;^) ) By the way, when I run "man ipfw" I get nothing. Using this instead:

Hi folks, there are two Samba4 DC server. The first one is the "PDC", and after I finished to set up that, I've joined the second one. pam_ldap and nss_ldap failover
I'm (finally) getting around to putting a backup LDAP authentication server on my network. The backup uses syncrepl to grab the database, and to my eyes both LDAP servers answer read queries identically. I'm testing the client side of this configuration on virtual CentOS 5 i386 machine. /etc/ldap.conf reads ----- %< ----- base dc=DOMAIN,dc=com timelimit 30 bind_timelimit 30
