CIFS, fstab, credentials
Hi, I just installed CIFS support on my machines and must say it works much better than smbfs. special characters alright, transfer speed doubled (from 2.8MB/s to 5.6MB/s on 100MBit). There's two issues tho I haven't been able to root out: -credentials file: tried username=<username> and password=<password> in /etc/credfile, tried user=<username> to match the

Triggering program from a daemon
Hi, I wish to run a Windows program under Linux. It will be triggered from another program when nobody is logged in; in other words, it won't need a GUI; it's just doing number crunching. How do I configure Wine to do this? When I run the program it just says, "Wine exited with a successful status", but it is supposed to create files etc, and nothing is really done. (It

Authentication problems using libsmbclient API and DFS shares
Hi, I'm trying to create a map of DFS links to actual server/share's.? I know that you can get this information by logging on to the DFS root server, but I'm trying to use the libsmbclient API to get this information. I have created a fairly simple DFS structure on 2003 servers with everything on the same domain. //MyDomain/DFSRoot /Link1 -> //Fileserv-1/FileShare1

Make a loop more efficient
Hello everyone I need some advice if the following might be easier implemented. There are n matrixes each matrix needs to calculate one value for the rest n-1 matrixes (but not for itself). I implemented this one by two nested loops for (i in c(1:length(CRX))) { for (j in c(1:length(CRX))) if (i!=j) # where i and j are the two indexes. If i==j then is the same matrix.

Error: Can not handle categorical predictors with more than 32 categories.
Hi All, My question is in regards to an error generated when using randomForest in R. Is there a special way to format the data in order to avoid this error, or am I completely confused on what the error implies? "Error in randomForest.default(m, y, ...) : Can not handle categorical predictors with more than 32 categories." This is generated from the command line: >

Gini's Importance Value Variable = Inf
Hi All, In the script below, the importance measure for column 4 (ie MeanDecreaseGini) indicated "Inf" for V7. Running the getTree command showed that "V7" had been selected at least twice in one of the trees for Random Forest. So the "Inf" command was not generated as a result of dividing the sum of the decreases by 0. Any suggestions on what may be causing the

reduce limit number of arguments in methods:::cbind
Dear all, As far as I understand, the number of arguments in methods:::cbind is limited by the "self recursive" construction of the function which generates nested loops. A workaround could be to use the internal cbind function on blocks of non S4 objects. The limitation would then be reduced to the number of consecutive S4 objects. ##### R code ##### dfr <- data.frame(matrix(0,

promptFunctions() to handle multiple names
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 Hi all, I wanted to set up my first (private) R-package and wondered if there was a function to prompt() for multiple aliases in one Rd-file, e.g. to create something like the normal distribution manual page encompassing rnorm, dnorm,... As I didn't find it, I modified prompt.default() and wrote a small function to do this job, called
