Winbind problem
Hello,
I have a Centos 4.4 Linux server that setup Winbind with windows 2003AD
integration, the winbind suddenly can't receive AD accounts, I can use
wbinfo -u to show AD user name and group etc, but getent passwd isn't
pulling across all of the domain accounts.
Here is the winbind log:
[2007/10/04 23:31:08, 1] nsswitch/winbindd_user.c:winbindd_fill_pwent(50)

Samba 3.4.7 can't retrieve idmap infor from ldap
I am running Samba 3.4.7on Fedora Core 11 Linux. This is a domain member.
My PDC is Samba 3.4.9 on Solaris 10. I have LDAP as a backend
(Sun/Oracle Directory Server 6.) I have an OU for user accounts, and
an OU for idmap entries. The PDC has already populated some idmap entries.
An idmap entry looks like
dn: sambaSID=S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-1121,ou=mydomain,ou
=idmap,o=mycomany.com

Winbind 3.0.26a cannot authenticate with ActiveDirectory
I am using Ubuntu Gutsy, which comes with Winbind 3.0.26a. I am using the
same configuration that worked on Ubuntu Feisty, which uses Winbind 3.0.24.
Something changed with Winbind, apparently, to break the configuration that
was working perfectly. How can I fix my configuration to work with the new
version?
The symptoms are as follows:
wbinfo -t works
wbinfo can retrieve a list of users

could not read attribute 'msSFU30UidNumber'
Hi,
I'm using samba 3.0.23c, and having a bit of trouble getting it to play nice
with my active directory. I'm using Windows Small Business Server 2003 with
the SFU 3.5 NIS server/schema extensions installed. I have samba configured
to use ad as the idmap backend, and sfu for nss info.
When running getent passwd, only a few active directory users show up, and I
get lots of errors

smb.conf works for 3.4.0; doesn't work for 3.4.7
Some may remember all my issues trying to get one Samba server to mount
shares from another Samba server. Well, I decided to completely reformat
my laptop with Ubuntu 10.04, and start over (leaving the other Samba
server at Ubuntu 9.10)
(to recap - I have a Win2003 AD (not R2), with SFU installed)
I took the smb.conf from the 9.10 server (running 3.4.0) and loaded it
on the Ubuntu 10.04 laptop,

Samba(3.2.12 and 3.4.0) - Winbind - trusted domains - Problem!
Good Morning!
We got in some troubles using trusted domains and winbind. First i will tell you something about the network and samba configuration.
For our SMB Environment we use Samba 3.2.12. We have three trusted domains. Our Samba Server uses LDAP as Backend. Most of the time it worked nice, but after some time Winbind loses User Entrys. On the windows side i can see "unknown user

Domain trust relationship between Samba 3.0.21c and AD 2003
Hello,
I have two domains:
- a domain FRANCE on a SAMBA PDC called "SARGE"
- a domain DOMAINTEST on a Active Directory called "SRV2003-2"
I followed the samba howto chapter on setting a domain trust
relationship between this two domains.
For now, I just want DOMAINTEST users to log on shares of the FRANCE domain.
On Windows 2003 side, with the MMC I can check/revalidate

Samba 3.2 experiences
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello,
I've been trying to get Samba 3.2 to work in the past few days, and I'm
running into a few problems which I have been unable to solve myself.
My first problem isn't blocking for me, but it seems not consistent with
documentation. I can't join my server using a domain admin's kerberos
ticket. I need to specify "-U

Winbind + LDAP Backend
I'm trying to set up Winbind to store all the UID's in a local LDAP
database, but am having some trouble. I think I got most of it set up,
but when I run "getent passwd", I get several hundred errors like this:

I am trying to create a samba server a a AD member, I have set up security

Interdomain Trust, wbinfo works on both servers, getent doesn't work on one server
Hi
I have a problem with an interdomain trust where on the PDC for DomainA,
everything works perfectly. getent returns local and DomainB usernames.
On the PDC for DomainB, it's DomainB works fine, but getent only returns
local usernames and groups, it doesn't return the usernames or groups for
DomainA. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work fine and return all DomainA's
usernames and groups.

Samba, ldap and winbind - almost there!
Hi All,
I'm in the process of setting up samba with ldap and winbind and haven't
been able to find an article anywhere on how to do this. I've managed to
troll together everything except the directory setup.
I'm stuck on what I need to add into the directory (ldif files) to make
it all go. I've included the steps I took and so hopefully it'll be easy
to spot what

Winbind issue
All,
After upgrading to samba 3.0.30 on gentoo amd64 because of my recent
best friend CVE-2008-1105
My winbind daemon is 'hanging up', and refusing to respond to pings
after a few minutes of activity.
Wbinfo -u, getent passwd all work successfully, then after a bit wbinfo
-p just tells me winbind dies.
I have 3.0.30/winbind on another machine, also amd64 that is working....

Problems with Ad and Winbind
Hi folks,
I'm using Samba 3beta running on RH 8.0 and I'd like to authentificate against a Microsoft AD. This all works very well, except to the fact that not ALL AD Users are mapped to my Unixbox!
When starting getent passwd, my UnixBox shows just my User from passwd and some of the AD User - not all!! Looking through my User with the command wbinfo -u all AD users are shown correctly!

Unable to browse from Windows Machine - Samba 3.0.20 as an AD Member
Hi folks,
I have updated samba to 3.0.20, on SLES9. I had a configuration earlier,
where SLES9 was a domain member 2003 Server (samba 3.0.14a), everything used
to work well earlier. After updating.. I rejoined it to AD there was no
errors.
However, Clients from windows were unable to access the shares.

SAMBA digest 1812
Hi samba list members,
Firstly, I've been using Samba for some while now and would to thank the
Samba team for such a brilliant effort. I've got a Samba server running on a
Linux box for a client (around 25-30 users) which has been running nearly
90 days now without any serious hitches at all.
The client is incredibly impressed, over the moon, etc ... so it's
probably time to pay up
