Samba performance issue
Hi, In the last a couple of weeks, Eric helped me fixed a couple of my new samba 3.0.5 running on HP-UX 11i hang issues. Right now, people still experience slowness when they run some applications on the samba shares OR recursive list directories on the samba shares. There was not a lot of errors in the individual log files. However, there are some errors in log.smbd and log.0.0.0.0 file. 1)

WinXp - Samba - Solaris Connection issue
Folks: I have a strange issue that occurs when one of my XP Pro system tries to connect to a samba server (2.0.24) on either a Sparc Solaris 10 or Sparc Solaris 9 system. This is the output from log.smbd when the problem XP Pro system tries to connect to the server: [2007/03/28 14:47:01, 0] lib/util_sock.c:get_peer_addr(1229) getpeername failed. samba errors - "No buffer space available"
I am new to Samba, having just taken over management of a HPUX system in a mainly Windows environment. The system is running Samba 3.0.7. I am getting the following errors, repeatedly, in my log.smbd. What does it mean? Is this actually a problem or normal chatter for Samba? If it is a problem, what should I do to correct it? Failed to set socket option
Hi, I run a Veritas cluster server with two different samba's 2.0.7 compiled with SUNWspro 4.0 (gcc 2.95 leads to the same results) on Solaris 7 UltraSPARC 60 server. One compiled with --prefix=/opt/samba-test the other with --prefix=/opt/samba-eng. To avoid using 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0 when both smbd's running on the same cluster host I set this in both smbd.conf

3.0.22-solaris10 - Please help !
Hi !! I have already sent this message to the list, but, as I have not received any replies, I am trying again !! I have Samba 3.0.22 running as PDC on solaris10. Each time a windows client (XP SP2 or W2003) opens an explorer to access a share, I see in the log.smbd : [2006/06/15 01:28:08, 0] lib/util_sock.c:get_peer_addr(1225) getpeername failed. Cannot login to PDC(FreeBSD boxen) from client(win XP)
I'm finally getting somewhere in setting up my FreeBSD PDC. I try and login via my XP client and now it gives me this odd message. "Cannot login because a duplicate user already exists on the network. Please goto control panel and system and change your computer name." Sorta paraphrased there, perhaps off by a word or two but that's pretty much what it tells me. I'm just

Slowness problems with Samba 3.0.1, Solaris, and Clearcase
Hello -- I recently installed Samba 3.0.1 on our Solaris 8 servers (as well as our RedHat servers) and I wanted to see if I could get some feedback on a few things. We are using Samba in conjunction with Clearcase for our software developers and because of that, we have oplocks turned off (also level2 oplocks = no as well). We are authenticating to our ADS server, but joining the domain with

Samba 2.2 login thread
Phil: Thanks for the reply. I hope you are enjoying your leave and that you are doing it someplace nice like in the Greek Islands or some other similarly sunny place! I have successfully logged in from a Win2K computer that I had previously joined the domain with! :)) This makes no sense, but here is what I did: To recap, I had successfully joined the domain with a win2K pro workstation into

Add computer object to local group
I am using Samba 3.0.20 with Sun Directory Server as a PDC. I have been running this setup for a year now, and I haven't had any other issues, except this one... I have four Windows 2003 Servers that are domain members. On one of the 2003 Servers is being used as a Terminal Services Session Directory, and the other three 2003 Servers are Terminal Servers. I am trying to add the three

samba3 upgrade misery
Greetings, all We've been running samba2 for far too long - I'd just never found the time to upgrade, and it wasn't a priority since it WORKED. Our little Solaris9/SPARC64 box happily served our few gigs of files to 20 users, and played the part of a PDC. Then I upgraded CUPS, and discovered samba2 doesn't like cups-1.2 libs, and figured it was as good an excuse to make the

passwd chat problem
I could not find any reference to this in the list archive. I am setting up SAMBA on an IRIX system. The passwd command does not say "Password changed" or similar at the end, it just ends. However, if the command fails for any reason (unable to get a lock on the passwd file, for example) it does report that. My problem is that I cannot see any way to get the passwd chat string to

configure not detecting IRIX6
A couple of days ago I sent a message about trying to build 3.0.4 under IRIX6 and having "make" fail because smbd/quota.h could not find <devnm.h>. I got no suggestions as to how to work out what the problem was. I have now identified why the problem arose and that moves me to the next problem! configure is failing to detect that the OS is IRIX6. include/config.h does not

samba 3.0.4 and -with-ldapsam
I am trying to get samba 3.0.4 to work as a PDC using LDAP with my old samba 2 schema. I used -with-ldapsam when building in the hope that that would be OK. I had a problem when it came to "net groupmap ..." because samba was trying to use the samba 3 schema attribute sambaSID. I got round this by setting passdb backend = smbpasswd ldapsam:ldap://<myldap> so it appears to

devnm.h problem with 3.0.4
I have been using 2.2.5 since soon after its release and all has been well. I decided it was time to go to version 3 if possible, so downloaded 3.0.4. This is on IRIX 6.5. I have tried to build with the same options as before, except I now have to use --without-ads and --without-ldap. However, when I try 'make' it fails on smbd/quotas.c because <devnm.h> does not exist.

Can't get test 8 working
I have just installed the IRIX binary version (2.2.2) on an SGI Indy called "indy2" which is running IRIX 6.5.10. I then started to work through the tests in DIAGNOSIS.txt documents and all was well until test 8. To try to get things going I reduced the smb.conf file to the following: [global] workgroup = indy2grp [homes] guest ok = no read only = no [tmp]
