help with icecast2 & ices2
Hi I'm trying to setup a new streaming server for us. We are a radio station which we stream live and have archive files (mp3). We currently are using icecast-1.3.12 on solaris9 and darkice-0.13.1 also on solaris9. I have setup two new servers using icecast-2.2.0 on solaris9 and ices-2.0.1 on solaris9. I'm not sure if I have setup the conf files correct (see attached files) but I am

Hello List We run a Solaris9 Server running Samba 3.0.20, Local Users (no winbind) but authenticating against ADS. There are up to 800 concurrent users, mostly Windows XP SP3. SAMBA/Network Neighborhood problem
Hello SAMBA gurus, I have SAMBA installed on a Linux box behind a Linux firewall. Also running behind the same firewall on the same class C sub-net is a NT 4.0 box. After starting up SMBD/NMBD I could see the remote SAMBA system and the file and printer shares displayed as icons in the NT 4.0 Network Neighborhood Explorer file system. Right clicking and displaying the menu over the highlighted

Samba and WindowsXP
Hello all. I'm writing to inquire about two particular problems with Samba and Windows XP that have me perplexed. Problem #1: I have a Solaris9 Samba 2.2.5 server, which acts as a print server to all the other UNIX nodes on the network. This works fine, however, when I print from WindowsXP, instead of getting the actual printout, I get the PostScript source code, pages and pages of it.

Please help! Urgent, STRANGE Win95 browsing problem!
Hi, I sent an e-mail earlier about our strange Windows 95 browsing problem. Then, I upgraded to samba-2.0.2 from 1.9.17p4, but the problem is still there. I do need urgent help because almost all of our network connection does not work and our users do it for their research. Please help! Please, please! Let me repeat this strange problem: We have four UNIX machines, a Linux (Slackware 3.3,

bug (filelist) for platforms solaris and darwin (macosx) and *not* linuxi386
I have found a nasty bug when a file, which is in some of many sources, shall be copied to a target. The linux-Version works well but rsync 2.5.{2|5|6} under solaris9 (gcc 2.95.3) and darwin (gcc 3.1) do not. The decision which file (out of which src) shall be copied depends on the number of src dirs given on the command line. This bug bytes us very hard, because we decided to rely on rsync

Network Neighborhood Crazyness Idea
Just an idea... We all know that NN under Windows is at best non predictable and totally impossible to use since many times machines are not showing themselves and so on.... We all know also that Samba is never the problem with that, it's just the M$ protocol. So my idea: if some clever Window$ programmer makes an app that is just doing the same: You launch the app you have the list of

Sharing of Directories & assigning group permissions to directories
Hi Everyone, This is a follow-up question on Samba. After doing rpm to reinstall the dependencies on libcups.so.2 and libssl.so.2. Samba went on fine. My question is regarding Client machines Win98 could not log on to the samba server. This gave me an error message --> The share name was not found. Be sure you typed it correctly. As far as I can remember I did the following on my samba box.

Joining ADS Domain from Solaris9
To everybody who tries do join an ADS Domain from a Samba 3.0.25pre2 server on Solaris 9: The Solaris9 getpass(3C) takes passwords up to PASS_MAX length, which is only 8. That means if you try something like # net ads join -U admin@MY.REALM and the admin password is more than 8 characters in length, you'll get "Preauthentication failed". The solution to this is to use

"Network path not found" error mesg

What to do about "Network Password?"
I'm stuck getting Samba to permit my copy of win98 (running in a VMware virtual machine) to connect to the linux host. Specs: Samba-2.04b installed via rpm on a Red Hat 5.2 system (kernel 2.0.36). For whatever reason, win98 is asking for a network password when I click on the icon for the linux box in Network Neighborhood. When I installed samba via the rpm, I have no recollection of

Help! Can browse from one subnet but not another.
I'm having some difficulties setting up browsing across networks and domains and was hoping some of you folks out there could help. We have two domains on two physically separate networks, connected via a firewall/router. To my knowledge the firewall system is not set to block anything between the two segments, just to route them. Network 192.168.18.0, CH domain 192.168.18.14 ch1 (rh7.3, CH
