SWAT works with Webmin but not via localhost:901
I have tried everything that I know of. I have reviewed the services file and the swat file in xinetd.d a tun of times. It appears, via netstat that swat is listening on port 901. However when I attempt to access it via the Mozilla browser on my Fedora server (with 127.0.0.1:901 or localhost:901) nothing happens. It just sits there. However, if I access it via webmin (which has swat stored

Yet Another LDAP Question
Hi All, I know this must have been discussed around here a million times, but I really didn't find this info anywhere else and I'm on a deadline here. I already have an FC1 server with a working LDAP directory in production. The same server runs a Samba PDC, but not with LDAP functionality yet. All I need to know right now is if I have to include some standard user and group

Sambe max file size on RH9
I'm getting a "max file size exceeded" when copying from knoppix 3.3. to RH9 over a samba share when the file gets to be >2G in size. This is samba 3.0.2a on server, 3.0.2-Debian on client. I googled a bit, and the more recent one (2003) directed the user to get a build that was built on their Linux 2.4 system. I installed from an RPM I downloaded for RH9 (3.0.2a), I

samba3.0.10
Hi Jerry/Samba Team I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on Solaris8 server and Samba-client-2.2.10 installed on Linux Red Hat2.1AS servers The Linux servers use Samba to mount filesystems from Solaris8 server. My question is how to find out on the Solaris8 server which Linux servers are using Samba to mount from. Because it is hideous to go to every Linux server and see which Solaris8 server they are

Primary Group == Windows-Group?
Hello, 1: I've read, that primary-group of a user must be a windows-group? Is that true? 2. Why is there no group named 'Power Users' in Samba? (Actually there is only 'Domain Users' with insufficiant permissions on a win-box) matze

LDAP Q: What for use Containers
Hi, I am planning a Samba3+LDAP installation and was wondering about the use of putting users into different containers on the LDAP server (similar to what people do on NDS/eDirectory). Is it possible to then assign rights, options, ... to the containers and have the users inherit these rights ? I observed that e.g. SuSE Enterprise server and other SuSE products put all users in the same

domain member server problems
Hi folks, A friend of mine has one samba PDC and about ten member server around this PDC. The only problem he has that he has to add the new users on every member server instead of main them only on the PDC. So how can get member servers synchronized. He uses samba password authentication. I think using ldap could be the ultimate solution. I'm wondering your opinion. thanks., Sandor --

Add Hosts as Domain Admin
Hi I found a patch for Samba 3.0.2 allowing to add hosts as member of the domain admin group. (http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&m=107938779530259&w=2) Has anybody seen a patch for Samba 3.0.3? It took a look at srv_samr_nt.c but I don't think the old patch will fit. Why doesn't samba allow domain admins to add hosts to a domain? I don't want to give the root password to

Samba 3.0.2 user group problem
It seems that Samba 3 has changed the user group behavior. We have users who belong to 15 different groups in Solaris and Samba 2.2.6 worked fine for those users. But after migrating to Samba 3.0.2, those users can no longer connect to Samba server unless we reduce the number of groups to about 11. Is this a known issue or expected behavior? If so, what's the solution without reducing the
