A small DIY test for 2.4.7 and 0.9.4
Hello all.
I am using plain 2.4.7 with ext3-2.4-0.9.4-247,
compiled with gcc-2.96-85 on a RH7.1 distribution with the relevant
changes, i.e. e2fsprogs-1.22-1, mount-2.11g-4 and
util-linux-2.11f-3 taken from rawhide.
I am using sometimes my /usr/local partition for ext3 testing:
/dev/hdc2 3842408 738176 2909044 21% /usr/local
For my DIY testing, I am timing this trivial

help with rebuilding md0 (Raid5)
Sorry, this is going to be a rather long post...Here's the situation; I
have 4 IDE disks from an old snap server which fails to mount the raid
array. We believe there is a controller error on the SNAP so we've put
them in another box running CentOS 5 and can see the disks OK.
hda thru hdd looks like this
Disk /dev/hdd: 185.2 GB, 185283624960 bytes

I followed the steps given in the users_guide:

core dumped messages from tune2fs
I decided to start using ext3. My kernel 2.4.15p9.
I downloaded and build util-linux-2.11m
and e2fsprogs 1.25.
I compiled ext3 in the kernel.
I started converting my filesystems and thing went ok for the first few.
I then started getting the following on each additional filesystem.
[root@joker /root]# tune2fs -j /dev/hdc4

SSH not responding.
SSH doesn't seem to be responding to me.
The machine I am connecting to is running Linux,
and I could connect to it fine from windows
running the SSH client. But now I can no longer
connect. From Linux, this is the output:

ext2fs_read_bb_inode: Invalid argument && Can't read an block bitmap
Hello,
sorry if the question was asked a couple of times before but I couldn't
find any useful hinds to this problem using google and the listman
search-engine of the archive of this list.
Somehow the ext3 filesystem on one of my machines died an after a reboot
grub wouldn't come up again.
What I did so far:
fsck -y /dev/hda4
fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004)
e2fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004)

CentOS 5 Beta Dual Boot Problem
To test CentOS 5, I loaded from DVD adding it to
a system at home running Fedora Core 7 T2.
Partition Layout is:
/dev/hda1 - / for the RH7T2 system
/dev/hda2 - /home
/dev/hda3 - swap
/dev/hda4 - extended
/dev/hda5 - / for CentOS 5
The system loaded cleanly and gave me the
opportunity to tell grub about the other system.
CentOS boots fine. Grub Stage 2 will show me
both systems.

Xen boot has poor screen resolution and fails to load X11
I tried sending this e-mail to the list earlier but no one replied...
Right, so I''m brand new to xen, and I''ve had success in making xen boot
(kernel /boot/xen-2.0.6.gz module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-xen0), but
there are a couple major issues.
1) The screen resolution. I''m running a ThinkPad T30 (2366-92U, for
those who want to know), and all the text looks fuzzy. I

I got thinking booting off a logical partition might not be allowed, so I
changed the LEAF/Bering logical partition to a primary, hda4. Then I ran
"syslinux d:" from a Win98SE DOS-box to (try to) initialize the
partition's boot record. And added this from a

Partioning Error: Dual Boot, WinXP & CentOS5, 27 GB Free space; my error is?
Hello: Starting Friday afternoon, I blew away the installations on the
three (3) boxes we use as Desktops. On two (2) of them (my Dell
Dimension 2400 and my wife's Compaq Evo D300v), I have MS Windows XP
and CentOS5 running. :-) On my daughters box (Dell Dimension 4300)
I am having problems with the partitioning. Probably this is due to
some mistake I have made, with regard to

getting ext3 on suse-7.3? (long post)
greetings.
i have been three days now trying to add ext3 to an existing suse-7.3
machine. i am using suse's own 2.4.13 kernel source.
here is what i have done:
following install, i ran tune2fs -j /dev/hda2 (also hda3 and hda4).
.journal files were created on each partition, apparently
uneventfully. wishing to avoid ai irreversable situation, i initially
edited /etc/fstab thusly:

[PATCH] Remove device information when VmError occurred
Hi,
I tested xm block-attach command with a wrong parameter(file:).
Naturally a command error occurred.
Then I retested xm block-attach command with a correct parameter(phy:).
But a command error occurred again.
The second command error occurred because Xend did not remove device
information from self.info when the first command error occurred.
