Hi, I am trying to set up my internet connection sharing linux box as a stand-alone samba server. When i try to access the server from a Windows XP Pro client using \\192.168.0.1 i get a dialog box asking for a username and password. I duly enter this and the dialog box immediately re-appears without connecting me to the share. There exists both a samba and linux account with the same

XP Issues
We have a samba server acting as a PDC for approx 100 Windows 2000 workstations, and it has been doing so very well for the last year. We just purchased some XP Pro machines, and using the registry edit that's listed in the docs, we were able to get them on to the domain. The issue is that the very first time they try to view any drives mapped to the Samba server, it hangs for a good 30-40

Changing file permissions in Windows XP with a samba PDC
Question about changing file permissions in Windows XP when running samba as a PDC. If you hit Properties and go to the security tab, instead of listing the proper group/user names it lists the full SID. Is there a way to get Windows XP to map these to the proper user/group names? I am using LDAP as a backend with Samba. Thanks. -- James

WINS not updating after swapping network connections
Our domain controller is running Samba 2.2.8a on Solaris 8. We have XP laptops. We swap between a builtin network card, docking port and wireless card. All of these have separate IP addresses. If I say, boot up with the wireless card, then remove it and use the builtin network card, the IP address in wins.dat on the server doesn't change. It still has the IP address of the wireless card.

First let me state that I can not give logfiles in email since the Samba servers are on the secure side of my world and contain sensitive information. If by my stating my problem, I am hoping that someone will point me in certain directions that I have not tried. We have two samba servers on our site. Both are running Samba 3.0.0.

Connection reset by peer / The network is busy
I have seen posts concerning this in the archives, but with no real solution. I've seen it first-hand twice now. I am running Debian Woody, with us3.samba.org's Samba 3 sources added to my apt-sources. 3.0.2a was the first version of Samba installed. The SMB.conf is used off of a previous "Test" system, then updated to reflect changes in the network as it stands now. The
