Duplicate suppression from remote lists?
Hi,
I have a setup where users on my server who are subscribed to several
lists on a (remote) weirdly-configured listserver are getting many
duplicate e-mails. I know why this is happening; but I don't have
control over that listserver so I can't fix it. Is there a way for me
to suppress duplicates from within Dovecot? The duplicates do all have
the same (otherwise-unique) message

Speeding up build-from-source
Hi,
I've been playing around with the R source code a little; mostly just
trying to familiarize myself. I have access to some computers on a
reservation system; so I've been reserving a computer, downloading and
compiling R, and going from there.
I'm finding that R takes a long time to build, though. (Well, ok,
maybe 5 minutes -- I'm impatient :-) ) Most of that time,

ICU_531 and sjlj vs.seh
It seems that version of ICU_531 in
<http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/goodies/> as of June 25, 2014,
was compiled using sjlj exception handling (current gcc-4.6.3,
perhaps?). I say that as I am trying a 4.9.2 distribution which uses
seh handling, and I get errors like:

WINS nsswitch module

The WINS nsswitch module has been rewritten to address memory issues and to
simplify the code. The module now uses libwbclient to do WINS queries. This
means that winbind needs to be running in order to resolve WINS names using
the nss_wins module. This does not affect smbd.

HTML nsmall vector format problem

I am having a bit of trouble formatting my HTML with the desired number
of digits after the decimal place. Am I doing something
wrong/misunderstanding or is it a bug?
Looking at the example supplied with ?HTML.data.frame:

I would appreciate it if you can change the host value in the
/etc/nsswitch.conf file from *hosts:* to *files wins dns * and try
again by restarting the server, since the error occurs whenever I restart
the server.
However, If I change the host value which is *hosts: * in the

Final patch for bug 8141 - rewriting substituteList
Hi,
Attached is both the patch and a gzipped version of the patch that is
the fix for bug 8141 - rewriting substituteList in coerce.c to use a
loop instead of recursion to walk the list.
The new version passes all of my tests (make check-all, etc) and I
have used it with no negative impact to my work (as verified by
comparing before and after tests) so far.

I wrote a bit of code to add a new column onto a "topTable" dataframe.
That is a list of genes processed using the limma package. I used a for
loop but I kept feeling there was a better way using a more vector
oriented approach. I looked at several commands such as "apply", "by"
etc but could not find a good way to do it. I have this feeling there

Help w/ custom pkg: ERROR: installing package indices failed
I'm using R 1.9.1 on Linux and am having trouble installing a package
that I've written. Would very much appreciate a hint as to where to
look to find my mistake.

Accessing the elements of a list
Hi R,
I wanted to know how do we access the elements of a list. In particular,
v=list(c(1,2,3,4,5),c(1,2,33,4,5),c(1,2,333,4,5),c(1,2,3333,4,5))
I want to access all the thirds items of the elements of the list. i.e.,
I want to access the elements, 3,33,333,3333. This can be done through
sapply as:
sapply(v,function(x) x[3])

certificate issue with Branch Testing
