clients logout .............
You should be able to click Tools/Disconnect Network Drive from a Windows Explorer window, then select the connection to the Samba server and click ok. Note, this can be done even if the connection was not mapped to a drive letter, such as by typing \\server\share in the run box. You can then map a drive to the server with a different user account. Winbind + LDAP Backend
I'm trying to set up Winbind to store all the UID's in a local LDAP database, but am having some trouble. I think I got most of it set up, but when I run "getent passwd", I get several hundred errors like this: [2004/07/13 11:59:03, 3] sam/idmap_ldap.c:ldap_get_id_from_sid(588) ldap_get_id_from_sid: Failure looking up idmap entry (No such object) [2004/07/13 11:59:03, 1]

Help needed. Samba 3.2.0rc2 - IDMAP - Windows 2008 Server - ADS Integration - Winbind
Hi, I read at least 100 different documentations during the last week and didn't get it. So I decided to ask the list for help :) Unfortunately we have to move to a Windows 2008 Server ADS in our company as this is required for some other projects. But we want to keep our nice 5+ samba-server providing fast 50TB+ of storage. So we have to find a way to nicely integrate the storage with the

reading data from multiple files with multiple headers
Dear All, I have many files with a lot of headers and text at the beginning of the file. The headers are not uniform though and they contain different sizes Is there a way where I can read a table and skip all of the headers/text on top of it until I encounter a certain text pattern? Here is an example. I just want to read the table after the ~A. ~Version Information ?VERS.?????????????

Replicating Windows Inheritance
Hello All, I have been spending a bit of time playing around with trying to get permission inheritance to work in a similar way to what our Windows team is used to with their Windows servers. The behaviour I am after is to following: 1. Create a new folder 2. Select the new folder and go to Properties -> Security -> Advanced 3. Tick the "Inherit from parent the permission

Domain & workgroup on separate subnets?
I've been fighting with this for a while, and I can't get it to work, so I'd like to know if it's even possible! I've got two subnets .3.x and .4.x which are routed via a dual-homed Linux box. The .3.x subnet is the main company network, and runs an domain BLUETREE. The two domain controllers are also WINS servers. All machines in this network are domain members. The .4.x

RID to SID Bug? Share ACL Access Denied
Hello, I have been trying to work through an Access Denied problem and have found that the user rid is not getting mapped properly. I have yet to figure out where the assigned rid is coming from, but I know is that is incorrect. In the log (level 10) for the connecting computer, I see: "pdb_set_user_sid_from_rid: setting user sid S-1-5-21-74637098-2648309090-13861XXXXX-21006 from rid

Need Help with Fence_xvm
Dear Xen Users, I am new to this technology and I''ve been reading all over the places about how to setup a cluster infrasctructre using Xen DOM0 and Xen DOMu Domains. So far I have quite a few parts running (cluster) but I am trying to add a (virtual) fencing method. I have read that I can use (Virtual Fencing) using the fence_xvmd-fence_xvm deamon and agents; that will allow me to

Winbind Kerberos Problem? - Getting Wrong User SID
I am having trouble getting users connected to shares after setting ACL permissions on the share (removing the Everyone group and adding specific users). I have no problem with wbinfo, getent, or net join commands. I can also kinit a user and use smbclient -k to connect to windows shares from the samba server. I have removed ncsd from the system to make sure it can't run. BTW, the user can

Samba 3, Windows 2000 and DNS.
I've got a Samba 3 box running RHEL 3 that has been added to a Windows 2000 domain as a member server, however it cannot be browsed via the network (it appears within the domain, but does not open the machine). Its IP address is 10.30.4.1/255.255.252.0, nbtstat.exe on one of the windows boxes returns as below P:\>nbtstat -A 10.30.4.1 Local Area Connection 3: Node IpAddress: [10.30.5.1]
