ogg: another tag?
I've learned that I can make a tag with vorbisgain that tells the player at what volume a track is to be played to achieve a certain level of loudness. Is it possible that there will be a tag that tells the player for instance to add more bass when it plays a track? Ore more treble? With such tags it would be possible to customize the sound of a track according to my wishes - without

Group Policies
I was told that this mailing list might be a good place to get some answers that another one I'm on couldn't answer. I am using Samba to serve a small Christian school in PA, and we went for it mostly because of the cost - how much better than free can you get! I've been very pleased with it, as it's my first server setup. Learned a lot and have gotten a lot of help. However,

Samba Authorizations
There is one little piece I'm missing. I have a Samba directory: /home/documents I have 10 Window XP users that need R/W access to this directory. I have another 10 Window XP users that need R/O access to this directory. No other Windows users should be able to see this directory. The R/W users will get access by doing a Windows Search, Computers, and click on the directory. They may also

samba will disappear from the win2000's network places
Dear all: I've found one strange things. I am using Red Hat Linux 5.2 and Samba 2.0.6. (I rebuild the RPM in RH 5.2) The samba is treated as a Server. Every windows 95/98/NT could access the samba server without problem. In windows 2000 RC2 (treated as client), it could access the samba server. But if I enable the "IP Security Policies on Local Machine". (You can enable

Can a guest LDOM discover the identity of the host system?
That is...is there a mechanism provided to do this? As an afterthought, this also applies to non-global zones, although one can stick something in the oem-banner eeprom variable that is identically visible on all the zones, which is not the case on LDOMs. However, that''s not a supported mechanism. Having something that was would be better. Ideal if the same mechanism (on what might or

error compiling icecast on woody
I had this same problem. To fix, I just commented the line with the CURLOPT_NOSIGNAL out since I couldn't find that option anywhere in the curl headers. It's running fine on my Debian woody box. Directory missing on RH 7.3
Hello all. Thanks for all the support. I'm at the very beginning stage of an upgrade. I'm trying to # sh makerpms.sh, but it complains about there not being /usr/src/redhat/something/something, and I check and its not there. I went to my router which is running RedHat 7.1, and its there. Does 7.1 & 7.3 have different directory structures, or what's the story? Did I delete

Trouble with Samba/RH 7.3
I'm having trouble connecting to a share I created on my Redhat 7.3 box, from my Windows XP workstation. I had set it up earlier on a FreeBSD 4.6 server and was able to connect to it from a Windows 2000 workstation, but can not seem to get it right here at home. Here's my smb.conf file..... # Samba config file created using SWAT # from localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1) # Date:
