Groups not listed in USERMGR.EXE
Dear list, I'm using samba 3.0.2a on a RedHat Linux server. Samba is configured as being a PDC. When I use the usermanager from SRVTOOLS.EXE on my W2K workstation I don't see any groups listed in the window below the userlist. Also when I look at the properties of on of the user (who is member of more than one group) I only see that a primary group is assigned, the one in /etc/passwd. The

Getting ACLs to work with Samba 3.0.2a
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello! I'm currently trying to get ACLs to work with my Samba-PDC. I compiled Samba with the "--with-acl-support"-option and the configure-script says: checking sys/acl.h usability... yes checking sys/acl.h presence... yes checking for sys/acl.h... yes After install, a "ldd smbd" gives libacl.so.1 => /lib/libacl.so.1

ACLs fail in 3.0.23d
Whenever I try to read or modify ACLs from my Windows 2000 PDC, my Samba Domain Member Server (Security = ADS) does not allow setting ACLs, nor does it display the existing ACLs. - I have setup ACLs in my Kernel - I have translated and installed libacl and libattr - I can see and modify ACLs with getfacl and setfacl. - I have translated Samba 3.0.23d with --with-acl-support=yes - I have enabled

acl problem
Hello I have samba (2.2.7a) shares on linux (rh 7 & 9) servers with posix-acl (both kernel (2.4.19/ext2 and 2.4.20/xfs) and samba enabled) and an nt 4 PDC. works fine except that I can't change acl of a file/dir if i'm not the owner, thought i'm in a group that has write access to the file/dir I set the "dos filemode = yes" as told in "man smb.conf", but it

Missing 'HAVE_SYS_ACL_H'
I'm building 3.0.14a on Mandrake 10.2, trying to use the same config as my other servers (3.0.11), but ACLs are not working. In checking the outout of smbd -b, I see this line is missing: System Headers: HAVE_SYS_ACL_H .... But I am specifying ./configure --with-acl-support ... Adding an acl using 'setfacl -m 'NTDOMAIN+NTUSER' file does successfully add an ACL for the NT

Can't set ACL on Samba
Hi everybody, i'm getting mad configuring samba to join an ADS, resolve domain users and groups and set ACLs via windows explorer on a share mounted with POSIX ACL and extended attributes. At the point where i am, i've managed to get Samba join correctly the domain with idmap_rid backend working fine. I can correctly set (add, remove, modify) file acls and extended attributes

ACL
Hi samba group, I'm trying to get samba to act like Windows in the Security tab (to be able to add, remove, and modify ACLs on certain files/folders). We are running Centos 5.2 (2.6.18-92.1.22.el5) with XFS installed for the /share partition. I currently have these versions of samba installed: samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1 samba-common-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1 I am pretty sure the ACL is all

Usermanager for domains 3.0.2a... This a known bug?
I have Samba version 3.0.2a-3mdk with an LDAP backend. Works great but I can't seem to get user manager for domains to work with it. I'm thinking that perhaps it might be a samba bug that has probably since been corrected. Can anyone validate this idea? Re: FW: SAMBA+ACL+XFS
Paul, Your samba does have ACLs support built-in. Please check that your system has the ACLs support libraries. Since you are using kernel 2.4.x you need to have the bestbits acls support libraries installed on your machine. Check the documentation for XFS to see how to mount the XFS file system so it has ACLs support. You should manually be able to set POSIX ACLs using the setfacls utility.

Making Samba 3.2.3 and ACL work
Hello! I'm running samba 3.2.3 on my Ubuntu 8.10 server installation. I'm trying to use ACL in order to get extended user permission administration, but cannot make it work. My samba shares are on a ext3 partition, and i have enabled ACL in fstab. setting and getting ACL permissions on my files directly works like a charm. But when my users try to access files via samba they cannot

Cygwin build fails because headers no longer default to Solaris ACL
Unfortunately I don't know how to write AC macros to properly solve this problem but Cygwin does not (any longer) include cygwin/acl.h from sys/acls.h which is required for Solaris ACL data structures to work. So the CASE statement improperly short-circuits the logic. I have confirmed that Rsync builds using POSIX ACLs but haven't tested said functionality. diff --git a/configure.ac

still ACL bug in 3.0.14a
Sparc Solaris / UFS file system. I have some ACL's set up for a handful of users and its all worked flawlessly with every incarnation of Samba I've used over the past couple years, which would be most. Last Friday evening I upgraded from 3.0.11 to 3.0.13 and some of the users I have some ACL's set up for promptly found Monday that they couldn't save new Excel files, they'd be

Hi, I tried to use ATrpms (http://dl.atrpms.net/all/dovecot-2.0.11-1_126.src.rpm) to rebuild the rpms. It is shown the error message as following: configure: error: unrecognized option: --docdir=/usr/share/doc/dovecot-2.0.11 Try `./configure --help' for more information. I checked `./configure --help', it did contain the '--docdir' option. I don't know how to fix it. Then I

Winbind smbd NT Groups
I am having problems with my NT Groups. I have slowly been getting more and more users that cannot gain access to shares. Some users that are in the same group can still get access, but others cannot. I am not sure how to explain this really well but I am trying. So lets say that I have user bob sally and joe. They are all in a group called Space that access a folder called stars. Our Primary
