rhel4 + samba 3.0.21a + win2k3 server and sp1
Well, it looks like we are stuck... I can't figure out what to do next. ads_connect: Program lacks support for encryption type here's the whole story: We've been using winbind successfully for over a year now, rhel3 variants(scientific linux 3), some run rhel3's default samba, others use the packages from http://enterprisesamba.com/ we started out using the NT4 compatability

winbind + ads: only works for 10 hours?
I run FreeBSD 5.2.1 and recently configured Samba 3.0.2a (from ports) for ADS using the FreeBSD-bundled krb5 (Heimdal 0.6, I believe) and OpenLDAP 2.1.28 (from ports). It is setup to authenticate off a Windows 2000 Domain Controller and is primarily used to provide proxy authentication for Squid. I will share more about my configuration if asked, but as it works flawlessly at first I think

Authentication problems with win2k3 domain controller
Hi I'm having problems with samba-3.0.21b and Windows Server 2003 domain controllers. When I try to access the samba server from a client (\\sambasrv) I only get a login prompt, no username/password combination works. Accessing the samba server through its IP-number instead of using the netbios name works. This together with the log message "Failed to verify incoming ticket!"

authentication against win2k3 server
I've been trying to setup Samba to authenticate users against accounts existing on a Windows 2003 Server without any backwards capability. Ideally, this needs to be done without any changes to the Windows 2003 Server. Users will not be logging into the Samba shares at all. This is merely for authentication. I'm running FreeBSD 4.10-Relase #4 with Samba 3.0.8. This is my smb.conf file:

Linux server & client in Win2k3 AD domain
Hello folks! I am trying to make sure we can use Linux/Win2k3 mix in my company. After reading up in the documentation I fealt it sounded so good I would propably get there with little effort... Well, halfway there I got fast enough. But that won't do... I have successfully joined the AD-Domain from my Linux host. And I also can authenticate a AD user in the Linux host. I used nsswitch and

krb5_cc_credentials not found [SOLVED]
Hi, a number of people reported problems when trying to join the ADS. The error message mostly looked like "krb5_cc_credentials not found" or "ads_connect: No such file or directory". I got these errors on my SuSE 9.0 (Samba 3.0.2a, heimdal-devels installed, Samba configured with --prefix=/usr/local/samba3 --with-ldap --with-ads) system, too. Well, now I'm a

Hi Dania, > Hello thank you for you response: > > I would not like to give up.I'll try to see if I can change my domain > to the correct dns structure , maybe then I could be migrated to > samba4 you can do a domain rename on the win2k3 before switching to samba. But then you will have an issue with the AD Epoch [1] as it will be incremented to 1, and that is not supported

Weird problem with ADS support - Samba 3.0.1 - win2k3
Ok, this one has me stumped... I am implementing 3.0.1 on a new machine - Slackware 9 based. Got everything compiled (OpenLDAP, Kerberos 5) and installed Kerberos pulls the ticket without problem. The samba machine joins the domain without any difficulties. Here is where it gets weird. From the Win2k3 DC, I can not browse the samba machine - won't recognize passwords. However, from

3.0.4: winbind not working with windows 2003?
I hope this is just one of those issues where just after hitting the send button I figure out what is wrong. Client is 3.0.4 (also tried with 3.0.3) and server is windows 2003 with all patches as of today applied via windows update. Short summary: wbinfo -u doesn't work and wbinfo -g lists just a BUILTIN domain. I have done this lots of times, but now winbind seems to be not working anymore.

Delay with printer properties
Greetings Samba Fans! I'm experiencing a strange problem which started after installation of Service Pack 2 for Windows XP: When a user tries to print there is a long delay (sometimes around 2 minutes) before the printer properties page is opened. This only affects Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed. I did a 'tcpdump' on the printserver and observed something quite strange:

Does samba modify print queues?
I have the following situation at the hospital I work at. we are a windows shop (not my fault), and as such use windows 2k3 file and print servers. Recently passing 400 printers has apparently put too much strain on our main printserver - called ntprn (been a windows shop for a while). Okay, so now we are going to split the load amongst two or more printservers... ntprn1 and ntprn2. Our users

nfs root kerberos
Well, my problem is i dont now how Centos/RH is handing this. I just know that the basics are.. 1) The server must have A and PTR record. (optional you can use CNAMEs as long A+PTR match). 2) you use nfs/$(hostname -f) and add this in the local keytab and in the computer object$ net ads keytab add_update_ads nfs/$(hostname -f) ( you dont add the REALM here ) ! 3) i know nfs

nfs root kerberos
Hi Louis, I've looked into that and I'm not sure how this would be done? By the way, even with your NFS translation fix (which doesn't work for me because gssproxy), do you do this before accessing root files..? sudo root kinit -k 'host$' ? Jason.
