SAMBA PDC permissions quandry
Hello all: I have a Samba PDC (Samba 2.2.3) on RedHat 7.3 currently serving about 40 to 50 clients with the intent of adding another 60 to 70 in the coming weeks. Everything is working decently well. I do have one problem that I am concerned about though. I have had to make many users Admin users so that a certain application can run. This does not concern me so much except for where data

Upgrading from 2.2.3a to 2.2.7a concerns
All: Before I actually go and take the plunge on performing this upgrade I would like to find out if there are any caveats I should be aware of. I am using RedHat 7.3 and have been using the pre-installed Samba since I began upgrading our network to Samba about 4 months ago. I plan on using the 2.2.7a rpm from Samba.org and would like to know if any of you have done this and whether or not

Delete glitch?
Hey, everyone. I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a Debian Linux 3.0 box and for some reason, when someone tries to delete something they can't, it does give them the access denied message the first time. When they try to do it again, no message appears and it seems to be deleted (it disappears from the list), but when they refresh the list, it appears again. My file system is as follows

Printing, cups, w2k, Runtime error
Hi! I've been trying to find a solution to a printer problem. All I found is a message posted to this list about a year ago, which describes about the same problem (the message is in the end of this mail). So, each time I try to print from windows 2000 or XP I get this error message: Microsoft Visuall C++ Runtime Llibrary Program: C:...Winword.exe Abnormal program termination I have three

LDAP and Domain
Hi to all, I'm configuring a samba server to act as Windows Domain Server through ldap, I've created the users for the domain, and seems to work fine when I'm not trying to log against the domain, (I tried with smbclient and mac os x). The problem is when I'm trying to add a windows machine to the domain, it ask me the login/password, I give one of "administrator"

Can't force Windows users to change password at next login since upgrade to Samba4
I would be VERY grateful for anyone who can find time to offer a tip or hint! I upgraded an Ubuntu LTS server (running Samba 3.X) to the latest version (running Samba 4.1.6) a few months ago and a bothersome issue persists with forcing Windows users to change their password at the next login. This command used to do the trick net sam set pwdmustchangenow <username> yes

Hi people, I have a problem with samba, openldap and the creation of machine accounts. I don't know if here is a good place to ask but I don't receive help in other places.. I read many guides, howto's, etc. but I can't get around with the solution... I have seen an older message to another list (mail.gna.org) asking for the same problem that I have, it was: -

samba3x PDC and Win XP
I am at my wits end on this one. Ever since I upgraded to samba3x (present version 3.5.10-0.110.el5_8) in preparation for adding a Win 7 client, my WinXP client can no longer find their roaming profiles nor can they assign their home shares to a drive at login. Logins and authentication work just fine and I can see the home and profile shares from the Win XP client after login. My smb.conf

CentOS-6.5 (FreePBX-2.6) Asterisk-11.14.2 (FreePBX) snom870-SIP 8.7.3.25.5 I am having a very difficult time attempting to get TLS and SRTP working with Asterisk and anything else. At the moment I am trying to get TLS functioning with our Snom870 desk-sets. And I am not having much luck. Since this is an extraordinarily (to me) Byzantine environemnt I am going to ask if any of you have gotten

Printer shares question
Hi, I checked the archives, but couldn't find this question: I have two printers set up on my RedHat Linux 6.1 box, called lp0 and lp1 (original, huh?). Anyway, I want both of these printers to be visible and browsable on the network. I have the following relevant lines in my smb.conf file: printcap name = /etc/printcap load printers = yes [printers] comment =
