One of the SOLUTIONS for winbind authenication failures with STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW
I had this problem and I could not find the solution on Usenet that's why I'm posting - maybe somebody more fortunate won't have to spend hours and hours to fix this. Problem: successfully joined Samba to Windows AD. wbinfo -g and wbinfo -u worked fine, wbinfo -t did not: # wbinfo -t checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed error code was STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW

winbind authentication fails with STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW
Using samba-3.0.10-1.4E.2 as supplied by RedHat Enterprise 4. Using security=ADS mode, and using winbind and pam_winbind to authenticate. I was able to sucessfully join the domain, and can enumerate users and groups. Whenever I try to authenticate, it always fails with the status STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW. -------------------pieces of Winbind Logs--------------- [2006/01/26 13:08:55, 5]

winbind samba and nt4 pdc
Hi all I am attempting to install winbind on a Redhat 9 machine with an NT4 PDC. The winbind version is samba-2.2.7a-7.9.0 as a stock RH install. I have followed the install instructions on the man page and I still get the errors shown below. I have searched google for the STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW (0x80000005)error and the plaintext password authentication failed error but nothing I've found

dual boot linux/winxp, winbind
We have a bunch of dual-boot boxes (linux/winxp). I'd like to be able to use winbind (against ads) for user authentication on the linux side, but it appears samba has to join the AD too. Upon joining the AD under linux/samba, it makes the windows side of things stop working (machine account has been modified). In the past, when using an NT4 domain, I was able to tell samba to use a

'wbinfo -g' works but 'getent group' does not
I am running the commands from a linux fileserver running samba3.0alpha18 to a samba3.0alpha18 PDC. The wbinfo -g returns all expected groups but the 'getent group' does not list the Domain Groups the level 2 error in the <server name>.log on the PDC is [2002/07/30 12:55:28, 2] rpc_server/srv_samr_nt.c:access_check_samr_function(112) _samr_query_groupmem: ACCESS DENIED (granted:

High load while printing a Word document
Hello! Sometimes I have problems printing a particular Word document on a Windows XP machine. The printing takes very long and the server load/CPU are very high. I set the log level = 3 printdrivers:10 and got an STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW error (see logfile-extract below) On the client side I use MS Office 2003 SP3 and Windows XP SP3. The postscript-driver of Lexmark X464 is configured as

FreeBSD samba server returns nt_status_acces_denied when DosStream xattr larger than 64KB
I wrote a powershell script on a windows computer to write an ADS on a file on a FreeBSD server with streams_xattr enabled. If it's smaller than 64KB, it succeeds. If it's larger than 64KB, I get an "access denied message" and powershell crashes. FreeBSD actually allows creation of large extended attributes (at least on ZFS volumes). I've personally added ones of up to 3MB in

ongoing printer issues
So I continue to work through the various printing issues I've had with Samba. Hopefully the indexing of my messages will prove useful to others :) Anyway, while my previous "fixes" have gotten us printing for the most part, we still experience random issues (mostly with PDF printing to certain printers and printing from speciality programs). Anyway, our current issue is as such.

Hi Jerry, hi @all, some users with 3.0.10 with printing patch have problems with old printjobs in her status monitor in windows. Loglevel 10 shows two problems: 1. The devmode for this printer was not set properly (I know, thiswill cause problems). log.smbd: [2005/01/05 14:02:09, 8] rpc_parse/parse_spoolss.c:smb_io_reldevmode(2407) boing, the devmode was NULL 2. Printer upload problem
Hi there, We have 4 samba print servers we use for our 3000 users. they're configured to automatically distribute printer drivers to our windows clients. Recently, we have added a Xerox WorkCenter 5638 monster. But we're unable to upload the driver to the samba server throught print wizzard as windows admin. We've tried PCL, PCL 6, and PS drivers available on Xerox

wbinfo
Dear all, Got a problem that turns me around. I'm quite new to samba. Yesterday when i tried the wbinfo -u/-g and other options worked without any worry. Also there was no error in the UNIX passwd program where i even changed the root password. This morning onwards i'm facing with problems where the wbinfo says there is an error looking up the domain for users and groups -h -i works

Unable to print to SAMBA+CUPS server from Win2k12 server
I'm stumped! From within CUPS, I'm able to successfully print test pages. From the Windows machine, I'm able to: * Browse the Samba server's printers via SMB * Add the Samba server's printers * Write to the Samba server's print$ share If I pause the printers via CUPS's interface, then Samba successfully relays this information when I try printing a test page from the

[PATCH v3 73/75] x86/sev-es: Support CPU offline/online
From: Joerg Roedel <jroedel at suse.de> Add a play_dead handler when running under SEV-ES. This is needed because the hypervisor can't deliver an SIPI request to restart the AP. Instead the kernel has to issue a VMGEXIT to halt the VCPU. When the hypervisor would deliver and SIPI is wakes up the VCPU instead. Signed-off-by: Joerg Roedel <jroedel at suse.de> ---

NV_PFIFO_INTR_DMA_PUSHER
Hello, Could someone briefly describe (or point me to the documentation) what can be a reason for getting NV_PFIFO_INTR_DMA_PUSHER status (nouveau_fifo_irq_handler). This started happening immediately after I set the nouveau_vram_pushbuf flag to TRUE ,it's 100% repetitive and causes fences not to be signaled. Below is the debug log from moment of creation of fifo 1 to some point in time
