Howdy Folks, I'm working on implimenting centralized authentication for a mixed environment: - Samba(3.0rc4) -> Win2k/XP OpenLDAP User Store -> - nss_ldap -> linux/unix - FreeRadius -> Cisco/HP Networking Equip (My apologies if that doesn't look right for anyone) I have a functional ldap database (openldap-2.0.27-8), and I'd very much like to use Samba 3.x (been

Strong Password Enforcement (Windows-side)
Before I begin, big thanks to John Terpstra for helping me out with my previous issues. But alas I have another issue, I need to enforce strong passwords on windows side (i.e. ctrl+alt+delete change password), minimum password length, can't be dictionary words, etc. etc. (Setup is Samba 3.0.0 as PDC with LDAP passdb) >From what I undersatnd previously this could've been done using

Samba 3.0 + LDAP as PDC
At the risk of having my inbox flooded with another 10,000 Emails from "Microsoft" proporting the "latest security update".. Now that smb3.0 is out and about, I'd really like to use it for authenticating windows users / PDC (With BDC in the plans) My problem is that there seems to be little to zero up to date documentation on how to integrate Samba and LDAP, the most I

PDC/BDC Questions
Software: OS: Redhat 9 Samba Ver: Samba 3.0.0 (Plus excel writelock patch, waiting for 3.0.2!) OpenLDAP Ver: 2.0.27-8 Just a quick question about PDC / BDC interaction, my plan is to distribute Samba (with slave ldap backend) BDCs to remote facilities, as well as have one on each network segment in the hopes of avoiding unnecessary nmb broadcast traffic. My question is this: Will the PDC /

PDC/BDC Questions (fwd)
Cool, thanks alot, I really appreciate your time. I'm extremely pleased with 3.0.x's stability, I don't think local segment failover is really going to be a huge issue. Ext3+acl vs XFS
Software: - Samba 3.0 (Stable) - OpenLDAP 2.0.27 - Windows 2000 clients I'd like to impliment full-blown nt-style permissions on my existing Samba (with LDAP backend) server / shares. (i.e. file properties--> security: different groups / users, with different permissions etc. etc.) Now I've dug around and found that this can be supported either via ext2/3 + some ACL patch (anyone got

TE410P -> Dialogic D240SC
Basically, have an old IVR application running under Apex's Omnivox software on a box with 4 old intel dialogic D240SCs, and would like to allow remote clients to gain access to aforementioned IVR application via softphone, 7960, ata, etc via asterisk with a TE410P. Unfortunately, all I know about the dialogics is that they're configured for D4/AMI, which I believe I have configured right

Trying to use LDAP: Failed to bind to server: Invalid Credentials
I'm using RedHat 9 and Samba 3.01rc2. I'm working through the Samba Howto on LDAP but I've no experience of LDAP and I'm struggling to understand what is needed. At the moment when I try to change or set a password with smbpasswd, I get the message "failed to bind to server with dn = etc: Invalid credentials". So can someone clarify any of these points for me. 1. About

Puppet Documentation
I''ve been watching the thread where Luke is having to spend time defending his position about documentation. Can we get off that? From my perspective, Luke, I''m glad you have documented as much as you have. I''m one of the few who have been a little stymied by what documentation is available, but in no way do I believe berating you for your lack of documentation is a

[cfe-dev] RFC: Plan for removing components from namespace std::experimental
I second Justin's suggestion, but would that happen in LLVM 5 or 6? Just as something to consider, it may also cause spurious errors for people who are relying on the at-version-stability of experimental libraries, causing them to turn off warnings for deprecated code. As C Bergstrom has said, users buy into experimental libraries with the knowledge that the interface or behaviour could

Problem with samba and ldap
Hello and happy new year :) I have to set up a samba server as a PDC with a openldap backend. My openldap server is fully functionnal and it is not secured yet (so no problems with tls). I must use debian etch or lenny. My server's IP is 192.168.9.10/24. I have set up a dns server (bind9) for my domain named "mik". It's a local domain for testing only. There is a piece of

Unable to add computer to domain
I have an OpenLDAP backend, Samba knows how to talk to it, my Samba users are stored in LDAP and file shares work fine authenticating to the LDAP server. I tried executing smbldap-useradd -w server02 on the command-line and got the following error: failed to perform search; Can't contact LDAP server at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.7/smbldap_tools.pm line 362, <DATA> line 283. smbpasswd via cgi
using samba and ldap - redhat 7.3 trying to work on a short cgi to update samba password (it is a url with attributes username and password). I am not very good at all with perl, so if someone can take a quick ponder and help me out, that would be great. I think that it fails in theory however, because to change other users password, you need to be root ... So I was wondering if anyone knows
