AD Groups Failing to Authorize in Valid Users (does not start with S-)
For the last 3 weeks I've been working on getting RHEL4 (and 5, but that's a different story) to play well with Active Directory, OpenLDAP, Kerberos, PAM and NSS. It's been a long struggle but I now have a process to authenticate and authorize a RHEL4 client to a windows Active Directory server to that my AD Users can log into my Linux boxes (assuming their group permissions are set

LDAP backend for a stand-alone server
I'm sure I'm missing something in the configuration or am misconfiguring the ldif. Regular linux accounts authenticate fine looking at the ldap but not samba accounts. When I try to map a drive, it just returns "Incorrect password or unkown username". I have ldap running on a seperate server from the samba server. I get nothing in the messages logs on the samba server,

Samba 3.2.4 not locking accounts?
Hello guys! I'm using samba 3.2.4 (binaries from samba.org) on SLES9+sp3. I am building a PDC with LDAP support (i am attaching my config files), I'm also using ldapsam:trusted and ldapsam:editposix. Although I am setting the account lock after 3 failed tries in usrmgr, and verified that the parameters are actually set in the LDAP, no locking occurs. I started thinking that it was my

per user quota using LDAP entries
Hi List, This is my first post to this list so please be gentle :-). First of all, kudos to the developers of dovecot! Im trying to implement quota, and I followed the instructions in the wiki. My problem is the quota specified per user is not being honored, only the global quota setting. I do have an "quota = maildir:storage=204800" in the plugin area and enabled quota in the

ADS and Winbind ... Can't access with Samba host name ...
Greetings ... It seems I have really got myself confused ... I have a Win2K3 ADS domain, I have two FedoraCore systems, one with Samba 3.0.0 and the other with Samba 3.0.1. Both give me the same problem. If I try access the Samba shares from Win2K3 using the host number, I get prompted for a username and password, and no matter what I type in, I can't get in. If I use

CIFS/ACLs
Hi, I am using CIFS 2.01.01 on HPUX11V2. CIFS is running in ADS security-mode. Winbind is used to map the userers from the W2K3-Domain (german) to an tdb-file. The user mapping works fine, but I have problems with the ACLS: setting the ACLS to a file or folder from windows leads in "access denied". I'm the owner of the object and have full access. The really crazy thing is,

upgraded samba server causes winXP integrated authentication to fail
Hi I've talked about this in other messages but have a feeling it might have got lost amongst the other symptoms we were discussing. I had a Redhat 9 server on which I'd installed Samba 3.5.6 (built from source). I had it authenticating successfully against a windows 2008 active directory server. I then upgraded the Redhat server to RHEL5.3, on which I installed Samba 3.5.7 (and

samba 3.0.0-1 + OpenLDAP
Hi All, after so much suffering I finally have my rh9 box working with openldap-2.0.0.27-8 and samba-3.0.0-1. I still have some problems as follow: 1 - Once I've joined a machine to the Domain I only can logon using root user; if I try to logon as Administrator the system tells me that username and/or password are not correct. 2 - If I try to use the parameter 'passdb backend =

Greetings ... Just got bitten in the ass by not been able to join the domain with 2.2.7a Correct me if I am wrong, Jerry did give me a quick explaination. It has to do with usernames and what allowable characters in it for security. Now, I need to fix this, does anybody have a patch/fix or tell me where to look in the source to try and fix this. Thanks. Mailed Lee

samba ADS-based authentication fails with NT_STATUS_USER_UNKNOWN but wbinfo works
Hi I've found a few list posts with this problem but none of their solutions helped. Apologies for the long mail but I've no idea which section of the various logs will be the important part. I've set up a RHEL5.3 server (with Samba 3.0.33) to authenticate to an existing active directory realm on our local network. The AD server is Windows-based and works fine for a couple of
