os/2 & AIX & Samba & VisualAge error
While trying to switch a domain from an WinNT 4.0 SP ? to an AIX 4.3 with samba 2.2.8 with OS2/warp 4 clients we receive some unexpected errors. - we can log on to the new domain , run logon scripts, map network drives , store and retrive files , print to a Remote server using the printers shared by samba. - we can't run VisualAge Generator (2.X) retriving files from the samba server. Why \pipe\MKSPipe ?
I've got Source Integrity installed on our network and at least one person is having a problem checking files in. A tcpdump shows that the client is trying to open \pipe\MKSPipe (MKS is the Source Integrity Manufacturer). SAMBA (of course) replies with: SMBError = ERRSRV - ERRaccess (The requester does not have the necessary access rights within the specified context for the requested

R-1.8.0 + IBM VisualAge/C for AIX compiler
A while ago I compiled R 1.7.0 for AIX (with the above compiler - I'll call it xlc) and I was surprised that it went quite smoothly. Unfortunately with R 1.8.0 it's not as easy, but I succeeded at least partially. Static R works fine (after some tweaking), but --enable-R-shlib fails resp. produces a buggy R. Following are the problems I encountered (in a warning-to-fatal-error

InnocuLAN incompatible with Samba?
Samba 2.0.5b on Linux 2.0.36. Innoculan virus scanner up-to-date on WinNT4SP3HU and WinNT4SP5HU. On access virus scan has been enabled on all files. (OK, I guess it shouldn't, but it works more- than-less with NT servers). There are zillions of problems (eg. oplock breaks (oplock is now disabled); the client and server having different ideas of what files are open; multiple connections from

Slow Samba when added new hard drive
Hi, I've used Samba several years without any problems. Last week I added a new disk to my system, and Samba started to behave very strange. It's slow in terms of establish a connection and time to list directories. I've tried to resolve the problem without success. No other daemon has problems, both ftp and http works fine as well as internal communication. Below I've attached

AIX patch for openssh-3.7.1p2
There are a couple of bugs in the openssh-3.7.1p2. The aix_setauthdb function does not work with other types of authentication such as AFS/DFS. The loginfailed test in configure is not correct. Also, AIX can use the wtmp logging which I added in configure. Attached is the patch. Thanks, Matt Richards -------------- next part -------------- *** openssh-3.7.1p2/openbsd-compat/port-aix.c Mon Jul 14

R 1.5.1 on AIX 5.1
I'm trying to get R running on AIX 5.1 with the native AIX compilers, VisualAge C++ 5.0.2.0 and XL Fortran Compiler 7.1.0.0. R compiled fine, but in running the test cases, the base-Ex.R tests fail in the Choleski decomposition with the following: > x <- matrix(c(1:5, (1:5)^2), 5, 2) > m <- crossprod(x) > Q <- chol(m) Error in chol(m) : NA/NaN/Inf in foreign function call

Compiling Samba on AIX 5.3 with idmap_rid fails
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use idmap_rid with Samba 3.0.21c on AIX 5.3. So far, I've not been successful. I've followed the method from http://us5.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX/README to compile Samba, but added "--with-static-modules=idmap_rid". Also, I used IBM's compiler and not gcc. The compilation fails as follows: [...] Compiling sam/idmap.c Compiling

WARNING: Short packet. Try increasing the snap length (120)
Hallo all, the tcpdump output tells me WARNING: Short packet. Try increasing the snap length (120) but I havn't got a clue how to manage this. The problem appears, when using the dave client on my mac PB G3 and I copy something onto the samba server.Other Win98 hosts do not have this problem. Facit, I can not upload but just download from the server. Can someone tell me how to read this? (DF)

we have several samba-servers that work fine. no access-problems, even not from windows NT terminal server. but on our windows2000-terminalserver only ONE user at a time can connect to a linux-samba-server. for the FIRST user connecting to samba, everything is o.k., for the the NEXT user, the samba-server is displayed in the windows-browser-list (or via 'net view'), but as soon as it is

Help with SMB permissions problems?
I compiled a new binary on OS X and now it I'm having a few problems. Everything is working just fine including SWAT, but now I have permission errors: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/freeradical/smberror.jpg I didn't change a thing in my smb.conf, just updated the SMB binaries, so what might be wrong this time? BTW, I symlinked all the new binaries to their default locations and

Busy detect on pri channel?
Did anybody figure out how to make dial detect a busy on a zaptel channel on a pri interface when using overlap dialing? According to the documentation dial should return to priority n+101, if the called party is found to be busy. I can see a DISCONNECT message with "user busy" coming from the network when I turn on pri debugging, but the dial application does not seem to notice.

new-attrib lost when calling through pop3
Hi, I noticed, that all messages are moved from new/ to cur/ (using maildirs) after the authentication in pop3, even before the list command. I'm working with 1.0-stable-20050426. Why is this done? Shouldn't a message keep it's new-attrib as long as it isn't retrieved? This is how it worked with qmail-pop3d. Through imap, it works correctly. It's just sad if I can't

DOS Attrib mapping
Hi, I have a problem with the Parameter map system and map hidden. I have both activated, but when I change it under Win9x oder NT it doesn`t change anything and dont write the maping on the x-Bit of group and world. When I change it by hand "chmod go+x *" it shows the correct maping but when I save it it`s gone again. I thought maybe it came from the WinNT support and deaktivted nt
